League of Villainy
The League of Villainy is the name given to the group of supervillains which arose during the 1980s as disparate superhumans came together to fight against the establishment in various fashions. While some among the group were truly villainous and pursuing solely selfish ends, some have contended that the group contained members who were pursuing noble goals that simply did not align with the political environment of the 1980s and the Cold War. Whatever the case, every member of this organization was considered by the general populace to be a villain and likely a Communist sympathizer.
The League had its own name for itself, but the newspapers churned out League of Villainy in an amazing example of propaganda, and this name is the one that sticks in the minds of the American populace.
The original league consisted of a number of S-class villains who had obtained their powers by stealing classified government intel, as well as some A-class villains who had been born with their powers.
