2021-07-24: To the Northern Tower

General Summary

The party sold a wide range of monster parts to the expedition, collected new magical items from the Errant Merchant, and learned how to capture monsters.
  • Each party member has one tranquilizing smoke bomb. They can throw it at a monster to give it the tranqed state.
  • If the monster is dropped to 0 HP by an attack that wasn't made with lethal intention, the monster is instead unconscious for 24 hours.
  • The party sends a signal flare into the sky.
  • If the monster is within 14 miles (7 hexes) of a camp or outpost, a team will collect the monster and return it to camp. There, it will be studied and examined.
  • The party members can now roll on the "captured" loot tables.
  • The party, when at a camp or an outpost, can request a collection team to follow them. This team will follow the party out of the 14-mile range. If the party captures a monster, they will take the monster back to the camp and not return to the party.
The party was also told of a ruined tower to the north, which they decided warranted a gander. When wandering north, they discovered a group of injured expedition members who were attacked by a large owl-like monster called a malfestio. The party lured the malfestio into an ambush and attacked it with a hide-and-seek challenge encounter. After the party captured the malfestio and the hide-and-seek gremlin, they were rewarded with 130 gold pieces.   The party continued north to the fungal forest.
