Dune Brasiite

The Dune Brasiite, also known as a crengs larmidquo (/kɹɛŋz lɑrmɪdkwoʊ/, dune citizen in Old Brasiite), is a citizen of Brasi but not one of the five great city-states and a subset of the ethnic group Brasiite.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

Dune Brasiites have a mother tongue of Common, but many learn Old Brasiite dialects as a tribal language to maintain their oral histories. Some Dune Brasiite learn Gnollspeak to communicate with allied Gnoll Brasiite tribes.

Shared customary codes and values

Hospitality is an essential pillar of Dune Brasiite culture. A generation ago, the land outside the city-states of Brasi was inhospitable to most life. In order for people to survive, a strict social contract of hospitality, protection of strangers, and rules of engagements between tribes was formed in a treaty called the ipsa munshei (/ˈɪpsɑ ˈmjuːnʃeɪ/ , "the oasis' contract" in Old Brasiite).   The ipsa munshei was first authored over 600 years prior when there was one viable oasis cluster left in the Chull dunes. The seven tribes in the region agreed that the oasis was neutral territory and that stranded tribal members, no matter what tribe they came from, would be given passage to the oasis without harassment. The Arbiter's mouthpiece at the time, Sihid Ev Da'an, was witness to the contract and consecrated it for all future generations. The news of the hallowed treaty spread across the dunes and other tribes signed into it, expanding its influence to the entirety of the Dune Brasiite people.

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

There are many fashion movements in the Dune Brasiite community. The clothing trends grew from practicality and limited resources. Unlike the City Brasiite, the Dune Brasiite is characterized by practicality.   Men value facial hair and body hair as a symbol of masculinity, and women favor long hair braided back into a practical design.   Lately, City Brasiite fashion has been popular in adolescent and young adult Dune Brasiite citizens.

Gender Ideals

Both men and women are expected to support and provide for their community. Men exhibit this through physical labor, strength, and hunting. Women exhibit this through tending to the community health, keeping the history, and praising the gods.
