King Mateao Hightower

A competent human with a tough streak who just assumed the Rethenian throne. A man not above petty revenge if wronged, but never the man to instigate. Many conspiracies revolve around this figure simply due to the unorthodox acquisition of the throne. This being that his father and elder brother and many other family members were killed during an unfortunate house fire leading to him being the next in line. Nobody knows the specifics but King Mateao as it’s sole survivor, and gossip says he's tight lipped. His standing however is reasonably well liked, doubt is cast over his assumption of the throne but there is no alternatives left and it was a freak accident that left him in charge of the Kingdom. Politically he is in a state of flux having just assumed the throne nobody really knows what kind of a king he will be. However, he quickly took an offer up to marry a Brasian Princess to cement an alliance for the future as war looms in the neighboring land of Tria.
