Helen

Helen is a bustling trade city built up from a farming village on The Sems. The shallow waters near where Helen was built is the ideal condition for Tryve and it rapidly expanded, its surplus attracting traveling merchants, and The Sems allowing for riverboats to expand it's area of influence rapidly.   It is now a massive river-centric city, that is Lorelind's trade hub to the Kingdom of Leein and Goldavia.   With the somewhat recent development of the conflict between Lorelind and Goldavia, Helen has provided the ability to rapidly move soldiers along the entirety of the border, maintaining a steady stream of soldiers from the rest of Lorelind to the front lines.

Government

Helen is ruled by the noble family, Laejinskin. They have history centuries ago as the first family to develop riverboats to trade along The Sems. The family today has taken a step back from the hands on work, but enacts policies that make the Tryve farms and river trade profitable and stable.

Defences

The Sems provides a natural barrier against invading forces, and the large collection of river boats allows Helen to quickly maneuver soldiers along the river. Otherwise, Helen relies on support from the surrounding cities to maintain its defense.

Industry & Trade

The largest source of income for Helen is Tryve. Helen also collects taxes on all goods that pass through to use their river system to export out to other countries and import into Lorelind.

Infrastructure

Robust gondola systems allow people and goods to conveniently navigate the Hilltop district. Large watermills process the Tryve and power the gondolas. Large squares provide areas for people to trade, and keep entertained.

Districts

Rivermar is a long stretch of the city that lies along The Sems, it is made of up warehouses, docks, Tryve farms, and working class families. Rivermar is the beating heart of Helen, and throughout you will hear the hustle and bustle of the people that built this city.   The Hilltop district is charmingly named as it was built into the side of a hill and looks down on the rest of Helen. The main streets are covered in stairs going up this hill, and so this district uses gondolas powered by the river to move people and goods throughout it's streets. The governing body of Helen can be found at the highest point of Hilltop. Throughout the district one can find market squares carved out of the hillside where the many local craftsmen and artisans peddle their goods. Due to the nature of this district, many craftsmen do not operate stores, instead making the most of their sales in market squares.

Guilds and Factions

The Rivermen are a workers guild that provides working and good standards for the farms and docks within the Rivermar. They provide base wages for these workers during the off seasons and support them in finding alternative work during the winters.
