Void Energy and Crystals

VE is known to be hazardous, as any matter that interacts with it is broken down into its most basic parts. VE can, however, be harnessed through the use of Void Crystals, which are a crystalline structure commonly found near Black Holes or other Dimensional weak points. These Void Crystals can be used for a wide number of different technologies, the most well known of which is Void Shielding, used on every military craft in the galaxy.

It is due to its wide range of uses that has caused its widespread usage across the galaxy. There are, however, some uses it is simply too expensive to be even considered for. These mostly exist in the civilian sector of technology, with the one exception being power output, but that is left up mostly to governments and corporations.
Manufacturing
To find Void Crystals is a relatively simple affair, as one would only need to find a black hole and search the area around it. The actual collection of these crystals is a bit trickier of an affair, needing thick, vacuum sealed tubes with strong magnetic fields to hold them safely during transit.

Access & Availability
Void Energy and Void Crystals are used in various different aspects of life depending on the civilization, but generally the crystals needed to access VE are incredibly expensive due to the inherent danger in collecting them. Because of this only large corporations or strong governments can use it on a massive scale, such as in military forces and power grids.
Complexity
The core of the technology, Void Crystals, are relatively simple to use, but their application is extensive. From being the center of a capital ship's generator, to allowing the enhanced kinetic output of a ballistic round. The housing of the crystal itself, and the crystal's size, decides the usage of the Void Energy.
Discovery
Void Energy was discovered approximately one thousand years ago by various different scientists across the galaxy, but the one who is considered to have found it first was Dr. Velil of the Victracki. Similar to Dr. Velil, most of the scientists that discovered the Void dimension were initially investigating the origin of Void powers in their species, as well as the strange radiation that came from the first discovered Void Crystals.
