A Dragon Problem

Life, Failure / Mishap

1491DR
22/6

The party lead a young green dragon back to town, threatening the lives of all that live there, unless provided with treasures in seven days.

The party fled Thundertree under the cover of the forest. Their journey home was fraught with peril as the dragon Venomfang soured over head, searching for them through the canopies.   For the first time in eight days the party arrived back in Phandalin. Seemingly undiscovered by the dragon they went about purchasing goods and handing in weapons to be silvered, a process that would take one day per weapon.   Unfortunately the party were tricked, the dragon Venomfang had tracked them back to the town. The dragon ripped the bell tower from the town hall and destroyed the Stonehill Inn with its poison breath, killing Toblen Stonehill and severely injuring his wife and son, along with others inside at the time.   The dragon demanded that from now on the town provide him with treasure or he would kill them all. He gave them seven days to provide him with treasure and with that he left.   The towns folk were not entirely happy with the party.   At some point the party all purchased mounts. Weeon bought Tony the Pony, Yorben bought Grey Boy, Fungus bought Pony, and Faldor bought a warhorse called...Warhorse?   After helping the injured, Sildar took a moment to tell the party that Harbin Wester was missing, presumably kidnapped by Redbrands recently returned from Neverwinter.   The party went looking for Harbin at the Sleeping Giant inn where they were ambushed by the cruel innkeeper Grysta and four Redbrands. After killing Grysta and the Redbrand's, and Faldor suffering a critical injury to his leg, the pary spared the barmaid Chilni, and searched the inn for Wester. They discovered a secret dungeon below the inn which was being used for storage of stolen goods and contraband, and apparently torturing folk for information.   They found Harbin half beat to death and killed the remaining Redbrands. Old colleagues of Weeon's.   As Faldor's leg began to fall off he started to hear whispers and made some kind of deal with a being to save his leg, a being that might now be inhabiting his mind or body in someway. Faldors leg went grey and stone like, but healed and revived some health.   The party realised that the dungeon was an old temple to the god Cyric. God of Lies and strife. Unable to open any more doors the party went up to the inn and saw Wester back to safety. The party also proposed that they take over the inn now that Grysta is dead, which Wester said he'd think over and return with a deal.   As the party went back into town many of the towns folk glared at the party, and someone threw a rotten tomato at Weeon, but he was too cool and sliced it in half. Faldor however, chased the man down and beat him in the street, warning all others not to make the same mistake. He let the man go, bloodied and humiliated.   The party ended the day with drinks in the now unmanaged inn.
