Many Meetings

General Summary

After having returned to Neverwinter, the adventurers have reported to Vandala Maz'Trawa and asked her about turning the dragon remains into useful stuff. The making of a new armor for Randy Jones will take 2 months.   At Randy's house several messengers arrive.
  • One soldier named Stephen Cracker  telling Randy he is expected to report to the military base to join the inauguration of General Domhnall Rum.
As pretty much all of you must have gleaned by now, I am the replacement for General Cristardo. My name is General Rum, and my position here in Neverwinter will not be short lived.   We are all sorry for having to miss the experience and leadership of General Cristardo. But his expertise was desperately needed somewhere else, where he would be fighting the Derkon in the heart of their organization. Sadly, his headquarters has been attacked 2 days ago, and we have found no survivors. Let's all observe a moment of silence, as the general will be dearly missed.   So. As I am to take over for the late general indefinitely, I find it necessary to properly introduce myself. My name is Domhnall Rum, but you will all call me general. I was just a young lieutenant during the last stages of the Great War, but I have seen my share of action, then and since. Don't let my age fool you. I will wipe the floor with any of you that looks at me funny.   Now some things are going to change around here. I believe general Cristardo had grown a little soft through the years. He seems to have had a lot of patience with a shabby and less than uniform army. I will not be, nor grow that soft. I frown upon those who are obviously too short or too long for making an ordered battalion. Also, I do not accept the idea that all races have what it takes to be good soldiers.   I need to be able to count upon my soldiers, and I will keep an especially sharp eye out for those who stand out in a crowd. If I find you malformed bastards to step out of line, I will kick you from the ranks so fast your tusks end up at the back of your heads.   Lastly, I intend to keep regular meetings with Lord Urchin, about the goings on in and around this beautiful city. He has been kept out of the loop for too long and I suspect some of you bastards have started ridiculing him. Together he and I will whip this decadent populace back into shape.
After the speech by General Rum, Randy is approached by Chenleigh Quickstep, who gives him an amulet and asks him to meet him at the East Gate after he has taken 10 minutes getting in touch with the energies of the amulet.
Listen. Randy. I don't much like the change in command, but that can't be helped right now. However, the order no longer considers it wise to have our headquarters at the army base.   With general Cristardo gone, I am now the highest remaining member of the order in the city. I will change our headquarters to a new location as soon as I have found one that will do.   I hate this whole business. This might just put an end to the close relationship between the order and Neverwinter's standing army that has lasted for as long as I can remember.   In the meantime, you and I are both given missions. Yours involves going to the Dark Island as soon as you see a chance. This is quite the horrible place, so take your time to prepare and have your affairs in the city in order. It is rampant with all manner of unlife, due to the vast amounts of negative energy issuing from its core.   We usually steer clear of the place, happy to have all its inhabitants separated from us by the waters of Aear Beleg. But intelligence has managed to find out there has been a mission of Black Robes going there, and we feel nervous about their possible goals.   Go there, see what's what. Do not take unnecessary risks. But make sure you find out if their business is something we have to put a stop to. Depending on your success we may both be granted more renown, as the empty seat of the General means we need to reevaluate our hierarchy in Neverwinter.
  • One member of The Foxes asks Sticky Fingers to follow him to the Outsiders. He doesn't share much information beyond that. As it turns out Prat is waiting in the Sleeping Hunter. He has a mission to find documents which could be very damaging to the Foxes, as they implicate some high ranking members of the Foxes in certain criminal activities. The documents have been taken to some headquarter of Colonian intelligence, but the guardhouse of Neverwinter castle should still hold the logs describing the place where the documents have been sent.
Listen. I have been hiding in this part of the city ever since General Cristardo had me smuggled here, saying I was to not show my face for a while, as he was going to report me missing, probably escaped. Now I have had some conversations with the dwarves here and also the Foxes. I have decided to join their operations and I have received an important mission. We are to break into a well guarded and luxurious mansion, where I am to search for some important documents. They should lead us to a secondary location in some other city or land.   Any treasure I find in this mansion I can keep for myself, and I have received the location of a fence who will turn anything I don't want to keep into coin. Now I would love for you to accompany me there. I understand you have your obligations with your new friends. But as I am to understand, it seems very likely that the treasure you set out to find might be found during this mission. What do you say?
  • In the morning an elf comes to tell them Vandala Maz'Trawa has more information to share. It turns out she has found out that the mysterious help in Thundertree came from none other than The Black Spider.
To start, I have set my best armorers on your suit of armor Randy, but they will be needing some weeks to cure, combine and shape the scales, if you prefer to be able to still run at pace or swing your arms in battle. You may come for the finished product in a month.   Secondly, I have been working for hours with Reidoth and his ability to communicate with nature. I love the man, but he can be hard to focus on a task. However, we did manage to ascertain that the monks that came to your aid in Thundertree, were actually in changed shape. They changed into Drow a while further down the forest and finally disappeared into the caves of the Sword Mountains. Can you imagine what this means? Yes, indeed. I too am quite certain we are talking about the aids of The Black Spider. I wonder what reason he would have for wanting to keep you alive and well. There is more to the man than meets the eye.   I am just glad I got this much worked out with Reidoth, for shortly thereafter he suddenly seemed to remember something or I don't know, for he jumped up as if stung and disappeared to his grove. Maybe something turned up in his grove. After all druids have very close connections with their groves.   Lastly, an old friend of mine has come to town at my request. I have spent some time talking with him too, so as to exchange information. He is very good at gathering information and also has some experience in diplomacy. Not in the least having served the council of Neverwinter for decades. I think he will be of great help in containing the difficulties we all face, and would love to have him help you guys. Shall I ask him inside?
  • A human servant ends up inviting the group to the office of Jonathan Highcastle, who wants to know more about this adventuring group he has heard so much about.
So. This then is this Scuffling Partizans I heard so much about. It seems you are making quite the name for yourselves. You are little shy of rock stars in Phandalin I gather. And here in Neverwinter, your name has been mentioned in many circles as well.   Razyl. We meet again. Didn't I tell you to come see me when you were bigger? You seem to have grown some since our first meeting. Maybe that little elfish girl that always followed you around was holding you back?   Randy seems to have reached some level of renown in the military, surviving again and again against expectation. Tell me, did your family ever dare dream that one of their number would grow to such heights?   Bilbo, you and I have seen each other only in passing that first night in the Stiff Drink, but I don't remember you having purple hair. How is life in the city treating one of such a wild past? And is this unforgettable look serving you well as you move through the city?   Sticky. You are new to me. You came here when these guys returned from Phandalin, didn't you. Still, it seems you had a reputation here, even before meeting the party. I should warn you to be careful of getting on the wrong side of the rich and powerful in this society. They have many ways to take revenge and their dislike is long lasting.   And the prodigal son has returned. Scaramouch, are you going back into politics? It would be interesting to banter with you again, although I fear there may not be a place for you at present.   Anyway, for the reasons I invited you here. As you may know, I am responsible for all trade into and out of this city. That means I need to keep a good look on any and all things and events that might influence Neverwinter trade. Now I am unsure if your presence is an advantageous or a negative influence. The fact that you gather wealth from far and wide into the city, and buy and sell on a regular basis some very valuable items, is a good thing. But I also hear rumors that you guys come into contact with destructive elements every now and then. I would love to have you guys on my good side. I am quite able to make it worth your while when you need something exotic like dragon parts to part with, so to say. But if I find you are in the way of regular economic interest of Neverwinter, I would feel forced to report your activities to the authorities.
If at any point Razyle heads out on her own for any reason, she will be captured and come to with a splitting headache in some darkened room, all tied up. Alexander Inquisitorius holds her captive, although all she meets is Napoleon. He is annoyed at her disobedience and made fully angry by the Striving Partizans messing where they shouldn't be messing. If this situation comes to pass, the Partizans are going to have to free Razyl from the very tower on the Dark Island where The Black Robes are. Their plan is to sacrifice Razyle in a ritual to bind more evil creatures to their service.
