Speaker Duvessa Shane (Do-Vess-ah Sh-AY-n)
Speaker Duvessa Shane is the speaker of Bryn Shander. Although she is young, she has been acting as a competent leader throughout the two years Icewind Dale has been locked in the endless winter night of Auril. Aided by Sheriff Markham Southwell and always shadowed by a flock of secretaries and attendants, she can normally be found in the Bryn Shander town hall.
Duvessa is a young woman just out of her teenage years, with long brown hair and brown eyes. Despite her stature of only 5'2", she still manages to command a room when she enters.
Speaker Shane has a moral objection to the human sacrifices being conducted by the Children of Auril, but fears a riot spurred on by the Children and scared townsfolk should she ban the practice.
