Hitchbuton
Located deep in The Heartstone Mountains, Hitchbuton is a largly dwarven mining town. With only one road in to the town and a single other road leading to the Deepstill Mine, there are very few who would make the journey all the way our here except to try and make their fortune mining silver. The only constant travel are the merchant caravans that bring goods in, and take the ore out.
Demographics
While the population here is mostly dwarven, there are also a number of gnomes from the northern mountains, as well as a smattering of humans and the odd goliath. Few other races desire to live in such a harsh and secluded place.
Industry & Trade
This boomtown's economy is based solely on the silver ore from the mine. Once Deepstill runs dry most people assume the town will be abandoned. Some residents, however, are banking on the discovery of a new mine. Talk of increasing the frequency of expeditions in search of one buzzes around the tavern, however the last few expedition parties have yet to return.
Along with the raw ore from the mine Hitchbuton is also known for its silvered weapon exports. The blacksmiths are well experienced at working with silver, so the town is able to send silvered weapons back with the traveling merchants as a secondary industry. While their work is by no means legendary, it's exquisite enough to have drawn the attention of many noble houses looking to flex their coin. The work with the silvered weapons also doubles as a defence for the miners as the jackalwere bandits along the roads are susceptible to the natural metal.
Infrastructure
Most of the buildings in the town are simple stone and thatch buildings. A few noteable exceptions are the local tavern, one of the only buildings with a second story, and the Buton Manor, which is not only walled, but also built far more ornately than the rest of the small town. The buildings on the north end of the town are old and weathered, bearing architecture calls back to the late Third Age when they were originally built. Some of the buildings on the south, however, look considerably newer as they were rebuilt after bandit raids burned much of this part of the town down.
