Session 4: Rising Horizon Report
General Summary
Some time before the arrival of the Exodus, the squad had been learning the natives' language, now formally known to the Empire as Imperial Vicarious. After one particular day, everyone decided to use their time off after lessons to make a trip into the city. After accidentally scaring a man into unconsciousness, the squad met a strange woman named Qaraia , who pointed them to general store. Making their way to a street known as The Yard, they located the shop and went inside.
Within, they found the shopkeeper, Mord, who was kind enough to guide them around his store, locating most of their requested equipment. After an arduous journey through the twisting aisles of the general store, he then told the party of the purportedly-best blacksmith in town, Laira . After leaving and then asking an old woman for directions, they made their way to Vineyard street. While within, they struck a deal with Laira to try and get her a contract with the Imperial military through the Empress by giving them one of her magicked arrows. While here, Loric left his sword here for badly needed maintenance. Dreadcrusher then requested where they can find a magic item store, where she then pointed them toward a shop, known as the Running Badger, on Orchard street. Loric parted ways with the squad, then, and made his way to the castle, where he spoke with Rodos Vadaana for some time.
Once inside the store, they met with the shopkeeper U'damir, where Dreadcrusher bought the Billowing Cape and Heinrich Von Kleist purchased a few books and spells. Afterward, the party made their way back to the castle. After everyone had settled in, everyone received a surprise from Netania, who then asked each of them if they were interested in making use of her duty as First Concubine. Each and every one of them said no. Later into the night, Loric made his way outside and found Yrya Sorada sitting alone in the courtyard. The two spoke for a time, while she confessed her misgivings with having difficulties accepting her new "mother."
The next day, after language lessons, the squad was summoned by the Empress. Once presenting themselves within her chambers, she spoke to them of domination of the people before she ushered forward the Imperial High Mage Yamar Doralo. A portal opened in front of the squad into blackness. Ominously lit by a red glow deep in the center, they were ordered to kill it. Only after minor hesitation, the party charged forth into the blackness, expecting death. After a few moments of running, getting closer to the source, a magical veil seemed to lift from their minds, having been tested by their Empress. She declared them a special task force that none were to know about but those in the room after Dreadcrusher turned into a chicken, having followed orders to a T to attack what was on the other side. On the other hand, among the party, Loric had been furious, and so did the Empress try to get him to snap. After her taunting, she dismissed them all.
While everyone parted ways temporarily, Loric made his way back to Laira , where he picked up his sword. On the way back, Qaraia followed him around suddenly, talking to him. Once at the gate, the two parted ways. The squad then met up in Heinrich Von Kleist's room, where they then discussed the possible meanings behind the Empress's words.
