Splicer
Genetically Modified Humans are known as splicers. Splicers, or "Gene Spliced Homo Sapiens" are those who engaged with common KASPR alterations of their genome to reach a desired look or functionality.
Expensive in the early days, as of 2153 and the invention of the KASPR Eggs and KASPR Tubes, it has become nearly as common as getting a new outfit.
Still many don't refer to those with minor alterations to be regarded as a new species unto itself. That designation is for those who radically change their DNA to give themselves all sorts of new looks. Fur, Scales, Elongated Facial features and snouts, turtle-like shells, and Prehensile tails are all operations that may cross the line into special reclassification on official documents.
As a downside, most of those who alter their DNA so drastically often have various side effects. The Kennel Coughs they call them, or general infertility are two common ones.
Splicers are still considered minimally taboo by general society, with underpinnings of racism or abhorrent disgust common planetside. In orbit though most Splicers are left to themselves. People have bigger things to worry about than if you enjoy being covered in fur or not. Things like Air supply.
