Session 14: Where Do We Redeem This for Our Prize?
General Summary
The Session begins on Solis 25, 2597. Tork begins the morning with his usual exercises while Alena Birch says her morning prayeres to Artemis. Kale reviews Star Map with a new outlook and Rodan Spice sleeps in.
After packing up camp, the party headed left at the T in their overnight hallway. They entered a room with only two barrels of water. One barrl attacked Tork but the party but is easily dispatched it with some time. Alena Birch later identifies this creature as a mimic. Tork then berates the other barrel to no response. In multiple attempts, the party finds the barrel to be immovable. Tork discovers that under the surface of the water the barrel goes down more than 20 feet. Kale transformed into a Crab, where he found a rod embedded in the wall of the barrel nearly 50 feet down. He returned to the surface with the rod and remained a Crab on Tork's shoulder.
Heading through the opposite door the party took a left at the next intersection. They came to another small room with a stone pedestal in the middle and a door with two inscriptions above it “Blood Is The Key" and "The Pen Is Mightier Than The Sword". Tork inspected the pedestal and finding nothing, borrowed a dagger from Rodan Spice and cutting his hand wrote "Torque" on the pedestal in blood. Tork tried to write the word blood in blood next with no avail. He then tries making a smiley face with his blood on the door handle for yet again no reaction.
Kale returns to Firbolg form and suggests someone else try. Alena Birch tries to write on the door in blood to not avail. Tork destroys the pedestal and Alena Birch traces the doors frame with charcoal which both do not yield results. The party decided to leave the room and try their luck with the other door in the hallway. This door revealed a hallway curving to the left. The party followed it for nearly an hour before noticing a large stone in the ceiling. Rodan Spice destroyed it by shooting it with his bow, revealing a 3'x3' opening with light coming through and what appeared to be some wood from above.
Rodan Spice attempted to climb up using his pitons but failed after three times. Tork however uses the pitons to make his way into the room and let down a rope for the others. They made their way up into the room and found a door with an inscription over it "You Will Need Strength to Take Me Down." Tork tried to push it himself and Alena Birch tried to tap it lightly while Tork tried to hit it with his hammer. The group tried together to push it and Rodan Spice tried to pull it open alone. Eventually Rodan Spice figured out the door was meant to be pulled down as he and Alena Birch got it started before Tork helped them fully sink it into the floor.
Next the party went left at the T intersection to a wood paneled room about one hundred feet long by twenty feet wide with sconces and torches on the wall for light. The opposite end from the door contained a black stone alter with a silvered rod sitting upon it. The party discovers that if they get within 20 feet of the alter they are teleported back to the entrance of the room. After several attempts to get past it (running, going holding hands, etc.) Kale dispelled the teleport spell and the party grabbed the rod. They were then teleported to a desert where they faced off against a Sandstone Golem. The fight was intense as it spawned two copies of itself that also attacked the party. With a combined focus on the main creature, the party managed together to slay it with Rodan Spice dealing the final blow. With the creature defeated, the party was teleported to a massive black stone room with a 40 foot tall black stone door. The door had an indent in it where the silvered rods fit and were magically suspended.
With the final rod inserted, the doors pulled apart revealing a polished stone room roughly 500 feet in diameter. Every ten feet or so in the room were lights inset in the floor while a 20 foot cube of magically contained treasure was at the center of the room. Once the doors were fully opened, the lights in the floor flashed as bright as daylight and started pulsing every second. The party madly dashed to the treasure in the center of the room. They used their individual talents to grab what they could until at 60 seconds another flash as bright of daylight blinded them, and when their vision returned they were at their last campsite with their animals. In all the party gained the following:
