Session 44: Rodan DID NOT Finger That Corpse's Asshole

General Summary

The session began on DeepFrost 1, 2597 (The Winter's Solstice), early in the afternoon should they have been in the material plane. Instead, they began in the library within Real Del. Opening various doors to ascertain adjoining rooms, they located a large marble desk in a circular room and an elongated room with four chairs. While Rodan Spice went to sit in the chairs and begin encouraging others to join him, Atticus mentally summoned two entries from the library to himself. One was his own tome he had written and signed for Del while the other was a torn piece of parchment containing a partial map of Real Del.
Torn Map of Real Del   With this map in hand, Atticus and the rest of the party joined Rodan Spice in the parlor (now learned from the map shard) and after entering having the door behind them vanish. They discovered if they all sat in the four chairs, more chairs would appear until everyone was sitting down. At this point, the room would seem to lengthen revealing the door through which they entered and another door from which they had arrived. The door opposite of them was investigated to lead to the guest room hallway they had stayed in on a previous adventure. Eventually they decided to make their way back to the library and try the next door which also led directly to the guest room corridor. With the torn scrap in hand, they decided to go back to the bedroom as they now realized to call the room with the marble desk (though not before Kale returned to the entry workshop to retrieve Del's etch 'n sketch of interdimensional communication).
In the bedroom Kale noticed a folded slip of paper on the desk which said in a non-human, nearly mechanical handwriting:
To whom it may concern, please make your way to the control room and set the automaton travel to 'True', it seems because of this logic I have inadvertently trapped myself for quite a while. -Del
They all headed into the Scriptorium, a room with three desks centered in the room, walls lined with jars and scrolls on shelves, and a raised platform at one end. There also were archways over each of the three doors that appeared to be clockwork creatures, although unmoving and unreactive. After investigating the room, Rodan Spice opened the door to the Golem workshop to see automatons in various states of assembly surrounded by crystals, gears, gems of unknown origins, and more with the room going through archways beyond his line of sight. A slight sound of whirring led Rodan Spice to stealth into the room and steal two gems though not before knocking a piece of equipment to the ground on his exit. He shut the door behind him just as Kale and Atticus noticed the archway creatures begin to move.
Three clockwork dragons, each around 15 feet tall dropped down from the doorways and attacked Joint Operations LLC. A brief but furious battle ensued where the creatures were destroyed within 12 seconds, but not without causing a fair amount of scorching damage from several cones of fire to the party. Rodan Spice was found out as having stole some gems and likely causing the attack, but the party moved back to the bedroom at this point. Tork tried to move the desk but was able to only move it a bit over an inch. With this Atticus opened one of the two remaining doors to reveal a plane shift chamber within, though without any power source. Tork began attempting to open the door marked Wizard's Armory to discover it was locked, and at this point attempted to force it. Tork managed to break off the lock and open the door, but in doing so came under a magical effect which reduced him to a semi-catatonic state (Feeblemind). He was able to be utilized to move the desk in combination with the rest of the party, revealing an invisible trapdoor hidden underneath it. Atticus used magic to unlock the trap door and dropped down with Kale to a chamber featuring two large marble sarcophagi (one sealed, the other with the top broken off and with the side ripped open). Inside the sealed sarcophagi was a bloated, smelling, and bloody set of human remains. After some discussion, it was decided that Alena Birch would cast speak with dead. When it came to, it offered the following information to the questions posed in its presence:
  • Who Are You?
  • My name is Del.
  • Who belonged to the other Sarcophagi?
  • My name is Del.
  • What happened to you Del?
  • Myself
  • Is this a clone? Are there multiple Del's?
  • I am not a clone.
  • What are the runes? (meaning on the sarcophagi and around them)
  • The Transfer.
  • With this, the party ascended and made their way to the alchemy chamber. In the library Tork protected his friends and dispatched the two server automatons that tried to attack and they found themselves looking into the alchemy chamber. Roughly a basketball court size, one entire wall 30' tall was dedicated to potions. However, most of them were smashed or sickly colors as if some fight had happened. More credence was given to this as most of the work stations for creating potions were overturned or destroyed as well as five automatons that were strewn about the space with some evidence of them having been thrown into a wall. Outside of the door through which the party entered, there were 5 other doors. Atticus used his mage hand to open the first and saw a spherical chamber with a 6' diameter crystal ball in the center, a wall of numbered gray vials behind it, and immediately adjacent to the door he opened, two large automatons looking like military commanders. Atticus cast darkness on one of them leading to only one of their crossbow bolts finding purchase in his body. He replied with a fireball that scorched both as the sphere of darkness exited the room and came into the alchemy chamber. This was where the session ended on DeepFrost 1, 2597 (The Winter's Solstice), early in the afternoon should they have been in the material plane. Instead, they ended in the destroyed Alchemy chamber within Real Del.
