Session 45: Usually I'd Touch Myself, But This Time Alena Will Touch Me
General Summary
The session began on DeepFrost 1, 2597 (The Winter's Solstice), early in the afternoon should they have been in the material plane. Instead, they started in the destroyed Alchemy chamber within Real Del. An intense battle was underway with two tactician clockwork automatons. The creatures seemed to learn the tactics of their attackers and became more proficient as the battle carried on. Eventually, after Kale was briefly knocked unconcious and most other party members sustained large amounts of damage, the two automatons were defeated. One by Alena Birch and one by Tork who despite his feeblemind still knew how to protect his companions.
After a brief respite, the party ventured into the next door which took them to a calm and peaceful garden. Filled with lush plants, gentle waterways, and winding stone paths, this twenty acre space was tended to by many small gardener automatons that paid no mind to the party and their travels. Eventually locating two more doors along the perimeter, the party entered the "Left" one and found themselves back in the entryway hallway where they had first come into Real Del. They attempted the only door they had not yet tried, the center door, first with Atticus's mage hand. The mage hand disappeared as if transported elsewhere at which point they convinced Tork to the try to door. Once Tork was gone, they eventually all went through (Atticus, Rodan Spice, Zirk, Kale, Alena Birch, and Wren in that order).
The room to which they were transported was a 40' diameter chamber with nebulous black smoke walls and smoke trailing on the floor. Interacting with the wall seemed to link to the opposite side of the room. Joint Operations LLC attempted to "think" their way out, but were unsuccessful. While some of the party was experimenting with light, Kale flew towards the ceiling and found himself going upwards without bounds before turning around after a few minutes. Both he and Atticus noticed a jar pop into existence in the center of the room which contained a fleshy eye sized ball, eerily similar to Tork's pet. Atticus took it out of the jar and managed to place it into his wrist pocket right before the jar vanished from the room. After another bit of time passed, the party themselves were transported from the room to the back of a large rough hewn, black stone cathedral. 150' away, hovering over an alter and surrounded by candles, gold, gems, and books was a massive Eye of Doom. 6' in diameter it spoke to the party telepathically. It wanted back its pet which Atticus lied about having even as Rodan Spice nearly spilled the beans.
After a bit of back and forth about how the party could potentially help it and what would be given in exchange, Alena Birch, Rodan Spice, and Tork made their way forward so Alena Birch could tell if it was evil. Alena Birch was immediately able to tell it was evil as they neared the front but Rodan Spice and Tork were both paralyzed. Alena Birch managed to undo the magic as the creature was becoming irate with Tork for giving it over to Del and trying to give it away the entire time he had it when Alena Birch managed to dispel their paralysis. It was distracted by Atticus who offered to search for its pet and free it if it would give them the map and take them out of the cathedral. It agreed to this, asking them to go to the control room and lower the magical barrier on its cell. It then sent a map of Real Del as a paper airplane to the party. With the map, they were told it could transport them back to the Fly Trap from where they had come, the Gem Mine, or the Magical Scrapyard. After consulting their now complete map and a vote, they chose the magical scrapyard (much to Rodan Spice's dismay). With this, they were transported away.
In the center of the magical scrapyard, they were surrounded by towering piles of broken gears, discarded half complete automatons, broken gems, empty bottles, wads of paper, and much much more. Each pile towered dozens of feet high and at the 100' ceiling above small portals opened at random depositing more trash into the piles. After determining their location, they began making their way to the door that lead to the golem workshop (the one where it was assumed Rodan Spice's stealing had awoken or angered the automatons). As they crossed a narrow land bridge, a colossal clockwork construct with pincers on its face and a segmented body began making its way out from the piles of magical waste. As it was removing its body, Atticus stabbed out his only remaining natural eye with a dagger, popping it out, and then placing the young "pet" of the Eye of Doom into the socket. As blood dripped down his face and a pure white pulsating creature now filled where his eye had been, the segmented clockwork contraption charged. This ended the session, on DeepFrost 1, 2597 (The Winter's Solstice), early in the afternoon should they have been in the material plane. Instead, they started in the magical scrapyard within Real Del.Penguins Coming Out
