Skormp
Skormp is an ancient city, being a cradle for civilization for millennia prior to The Departure, though some accounts date it as going back more than 10,000 years. Currently it is the Capital for the Fisk Empire.
Demographics
The largest city not just on the continent, but in all of Ippocis, Skormp is an extremely diverse and vibrant city. It is home to elves, half-orcs, dwarves, gnomes, halflings, tieflings, humans, dragonborn, firbolg, minotaurs, halves and quarters of these, and many others at the edge of society. Different hues and skin pigmintation are not the exception but the rule. Within the city itself, most of the population is struggling to make ends meet. Only the wealthy upper echelons and nobility are without gripe against the monarchy and King Jorip as they continue to see their wealth, prosperity, and lifestyle increasing. Perhaps 20% of the population lives in squalor, with 75% struggling within a middle class and 5% continuing to rise higher and higher above the rest of the population.
Government
In each ward, the settlement is ran through the heirarchy of the guard. Each ward contains a guard master who oversees the many guard captains within that ward, as well as each guard captain's guard's hall. Stockades are found in the center circle of each ward and a night in them is a common punishment for minor crimes (see rules within Fisk Empire).
During the time of King Jorip, taxes have increased and collection/accounting of taxes has been removed from a the now defunct Royal Collection Society to the guard.
Infrastructure
Sitting at the intersection of two major rivers, countless generations have shaped and reshaped the infrastructure of the city. Water from the rivers is rerouted throughout the city via magical and practical means for usage of drinking, commerce, travel, shipping, cooling, and more. Large overhead aqueducts and ground level channels redirect the rivers through the city before flowing back into the main water bodies themselves.
In some wards, deep underground, large furnaces run night and day smelting rock into refined ore that is a prized export of the Empire.
Perhaps the greatest, yet unintentional infrastructure achievement of the city, is the fact that the city itself "floats". Millennia of building in the same spot has led to the great structures of old to now support the new on their backs. Practically the entire city is now several stories off of the true groundlevel of the surrounding area. These ancient structures that support the current civilization are dangerous places but also home to many who wish to avoid the light of day...
Districts
Twelve wards make up Skormp, each divided from one another by dark gray "slag walls", said to be made from the slag of the city's refined ore. To travel to wards marked with a *, the guards must be provided with documentation demonstrating a need for entry.

Points of interest
The Great Market itself is actually just a massive structure in the South-West of the city. Nearly ten stories tall, this ovular structure features winding passages and thousands of merchants selling everything imaginable. If something is for sale in the city, it is for sale in the Great Market.
Architecture
Each ward has a different architectural style tied to some degree to their means. The greater the ability, the more luxurious the buildings. The Squalor contains buildings that are simply lean-to's, huts, shanty's, and whatever can be scrounged. Better to-do parts of the city have stone buildings or those made from bricks, while the richest have imported dark timber, metallic beams, and trimmings of rare metals and gems.
Geography
Two great rivers naturally cross one another just to the South of Skormp before the Silandos continues its journey North-West and the Desphoran'tak flows South-West. The intersection of these two rivers have created an extremely fertile region leading to farms completely surrounding the city itself.
Climate
For most of the year, Skormp experiences moderate climate, but during the winter bitter colds sweep through, snow covers everything, and heat needs to be piped from the furnaces to prevent the water flowing in the city from freezing.
Natural Resources
Farm fields with plentiful crops and livestock are the main resources of the city, though via the Desphoran'tak raw ore arrives several times per day for smelting. Very few trees exist within twenty-five miles of city as farmland has cleared them. Those that do exist are short and generally seem to be unhealthy.
