The Great Dragons

The great dragons are the oldest living creatures in all of Ire. There are three great dragons, Valinor the first born of Ire, the strongest of the dragons. Then Dorthal-The Wise-Far Seer, and Kthos the Giant. Kthos died before the time of elves or man and no body knows how. He was said to be the largest dragon to ever live, bigger than his siblings and bigger than even the giants.   Each culture has differnt tales, and legends about the Great Dragons, and each give them credit for differnt things, but every culutre revears these beasts. The Sunian Church claims they are the direct offspring of God, and sent to keep the world in balance. The Dwarves belive them to be Gods themselves. They say Kthos built the Earth from cold stone; Valinor heated it into soft dirt, and Dorthal brought to life the sky, and oceans. The Heden Pagans claim the Greats were made by the God of Fire Eldi to conquer the earth in his name, But Valinor rebelled agasint his father, and won, but he had to kill Kthos to do so. The fight between father and son shook the earth and spilt the continent into three. The Nathair call them the Dragfar, The Anicent One's weave. They belive the Dragons control time and space to fufill the work of a greater master. Perhaps it was the Elven Dragon Riders that knew them best. Valinor was ridden by Eridor Flameborn, and Dorthal was ridden by Talus, but the Riders took their partner's secrets to the grave.   For many eons the great dragons helped to keep the balance of the world and helped to found the Dragon riders. Valinor and Dorthal fought on the Darkest Day but now live in hiding due to the Order of Valor. Despite the rising hatred of dragons many people still revere these three greats and some even leave offerings to them.
