Bethel Falls
The Golden Falls of Bethel are a renowned place of beauty in the Iron Hills. It can be found about 10 kilometers south of the Rethis Canal Aqueduct, but it requires about a full day's travel to reach from there, due to the roughness of the terrain, but can be seen for much of that journey.
Atop the falls is Lake Bethel, a confluence of several streams and rivers from across the Iron Hills. The lake appears to have been bifurcated by some ancient catastrophe, with matching depressions on both sides of a rift valley falling 118 meters to the valley floor for much of its 2.3km span. Of the two, the eastern falls are by far the more impressive, as the majority of Lake Bethel's tributaries are on that side of the valley.
Making the falls even more spectacular is the rock behind them - a golden mixture of pyrophyllite and chrysoberyl that, when the sun is just right, gleams through to make the falls themselves to be made of liquid gold.
Natural Resources
It has recently been discovered that the pyrophyllite found in the rock under Lake Bethel and elsewhere can be refined into a lightweight, easy to work metal that does not rust the way iron and steel do, properties that have excited a number of innovators. House Abizin has staked a claim to the mineral rights of this area, but has shown no sign of beginning mining operations. Their current patriarch has quietly let word out that the intent is to prevent anyone else from exploiting the resources found here and thus ruining one of the most beautiful places in all of Kinilan.
Tourism
The Bethel Falls are quite difficult to reach, requiring a day of trekking through rough forest and climbing and descending steep ridges of nearly bare rock. As such, they are a sight rarely visited by most individuals. For those adventurous enough to make the journey, however, it is a sight well worth seeing, and it is not uncommon for adventuring parties to make camp for a day or two in the rift valley near the Bethel River as it begins its long, winding journey north to the ocean.
