Side plot: A shaky stability
Current state of affairs
Since the repeated attacks of the hags and the inability of the governement of Neverwinter to respond to the current situations, a riot occurred. The court attempted to send out the guards to quell the attackers, but so many had lost relatives, friends that they turned upon their leaders as scapegoat for the current situation. Lavish leaders wanted to slack off. Truly poor leadership and basking in riches. The building sports to floors. A main floor with a study, a front desk and a storage closet (all have been ransacked and beggars may be found.) The study on the main floor has a hidden switch behind the locked drawer in the desk. Which opens a trapdoor under the carpet. Second story contains more studies, a hearing hall, a meeting room. Basement contains a large lavish room, pillows everywhere and another storage room. Sitting in the corner is a barely concious, extremely drunk, Argan Stog. Human, late fifties. He is drinking himself to death. Excerpt on Argan: While inept at dealing with the tasks he had at hand, he did not harbor any ill intent. A grown alcholic with access to way too much liquor. He fell into power when his father succumbed to an early death. Unprepared and overwhelmed, he turned to the bottle. Short days lead to him getting little done, yet he did not allow others to help him out much. A few secretaries and guards were all that were present in the mansion. Why a riot all of a sudden?
The raven had a hand in this. They aim to place a puppet in the place of Argan Stog. They wanted him to work with him but, while he agreed, he turned out to be unusable for the Raven as he wouldn't work with anyone. Upon the request he'd be replaced, he rejected and distanced himself from the Raven. As an act of revenge, and to reattempt to claim the town, the The Raven seized upon the opportunity the hags gave them to sow unrest and point it at the lack of leadership from the courthouse. However, another party proved interest in the village, the black serpents.
Making a deal with the hags, they created a scroll of perpetual paranoia. This scroll incites a feeling of paranoia upon any within 500ft of the scroll when it is active, furthermore, it also spreads the influence of Takhisis. A deal made by a tiefling in black with the tattoo of a serpent. (Rosohr of the dark serpents himself)
