Long Lake Longhouse Organization
Longhouses were a central political and cultural body in Long Lake Civilizations. They refer to an elongated house in which people of the Great-Mountains Land typically lived. They fit anywhere from 35 to 80 birds, and each familial unit (up to three generations of birds) had its own separate compartment, with multiple fire pits in the center for cooking, warmth, and storytelling.
Longhouses were typically headed by a patriarch (or sometimes matriarch), and formed neighborhoods of about 30 to 45 longhouses, which were themselves headed by a patriarch. Longhouses were an important political body, forming the backbone of many Long Lake political systems, such as that of Kindmount and the Great Harmony.
