Red Horizon Pirate Crew

The Daring Pirates of the Red Horizon

Overview

The Red Horizon Crew was a daring and skilled group of pirates known for their close-knit loyalty and their respect for the captain who led them through countless adventures. While their captain's stubbornness sometimes led them into unnecessary trouble, the crew remained steadfast in their loyalty to both him and the principles of freedom they cherished. The Red Horizon Crew became known across the seas for their tactical prowess and their knack for escaping impossible odds—though often by the skin of their teeth.

The Red Horizon

The crew’s renowned ship, The Red Horizon, is a sleek, formidable vessel with distinctive crimson sails and a figurehead of a roaring lion, symbolizing their courage and independence. Built for speed and maneuverability, the ship is equipped with well-hidden weaponry and reinforced hulls, allowing it to slip through blockades or hold its own in naval skirmishes. The Red Horizon leaves an impression on those who spot its blood-red sails on the horizon, and it has become both feared and respected by friend and foe alike.

  Key members included:
  • The Navigator (Edda “Stormeye” Hale): A fierce and insightful navigator, Edda could guide the Red Horizon through the worst storms, and her intuition was almost supernatural.
  • The Quartermaster (Red “Shadows” Reeve): Red handled supplies, smuggling, and stealth missions. Known for his resourcefulness, he could make something out of almost nothing, ensuring the crew had what they needed to survive.
  • The Surgeon (Bram “The Butcher” Forvane): Bram was a no-nonsense surgeon, known for his grim humor. Though his bedside manner left much to be desired, his skill kept the crew alive through the roughest injuries.
  • The Powder Monkey (Finnick “Sparrow” Drott): Young but daring, Finnick kept the cannons ready for action. His enthusiasm for explosions often entertained (or worried) the crew.

The Vanishing of the Red Horizon

Before the island was swept away, the Red Horizon Crew suffered an even greater loss—their ship itself. Rumor has it that the Red Horizon vanished mysteriously one night, seemingly swallowed by the sea without a trace. Some say the ship was taken by sea spirits angered by the crew’s relentless pursuit of treasure. Those who believe the ship was cursed swear it still sails the ocean as a phantom vessel, and a few superstitious sailors say Keyton’s survival marks him as the only one who escaped the ship’s vengeful curse.

    Their Last Expedition

Treasure hunting was part of the Red Horizon Crew’s lifeblood, and their last expedition was no different. They ventured to a island they found on a old treasure map hopeing to uncover its riches. However, as they searched the island, a rogue wave struck with uncanny force, nearly destroying the crew.

The adventuring party intervened, saving the crew and leading them to safety. But when the spell keeping Renwick calm wore off, his pride took hold, and he saw the party as a threat to his authority. The ensuing conflict led Keyton to make a difficult choice—to stand with the party against his captain’s rashness.

    Legacy and Rumors

The Red Horizon Crew was left shattered after their ill-fated treasure hunt, with only Keyton Malloy surviving the disaster. Tales of the crew’s tragic end and Keyton’s lone survival have spread, transforming the Red Horizon’s once-fearsome reputation into a haunting legend. Sailors now speak of the ship as a ghost vessel, cursed by dark omens, with whispers that the spirits of the fallen crew still linger, seeking retribution or redemption on the open sea.
  • Hidden Gold: The treasure from the lost island is said to still be hidden somewhere beneath the waves. It’s believed to be a great fortune waiting for anyone brave enough to search the treacherous waters.
  • Structure

The crew is led by Captain Renwick “Ironheart” Kane, a respected and courageous leader with a strong moral compass. Known as much for his boldness as his stubborn streak, Renwick is a loyal captain whose hardheadedness has, on occasion, pushed the crew into risky situations. Renwick’s motto, “A free man sails his own course,” has often been his rallying cry, driving the crew into skirmishes to defend their autonomy.

Second-in-command was Keyton Malloy, a level-headed first mate whose pragmatism balanced the captain’s spirited resolve. Keyton earned the crew’s respect with his quiet wisdom and cautious tactics, offering a stabilizing influence on Renwick's more daring impulses. Together, Captain Renwick and Keyton formed a powerful partnership, with the captain providing inspiration and Keyton offering guidance. The rest of the crew respected this dynamic, creating a familial loyalty among the ranks.

    Culture

The Red Horizon Pirate Crew followed a code that upheld loyalty, freedom, and a healthy respect for the sea. Their code emphasized that they were not cutthroats but rather free spirits willing to face danger for each other and for the independence they held dear.   Key tenets included:
  • Stand by the Crew: Loyalty was paramount, and abandoning a crewmate was considered a grave offense.
  • Freedom Above All: The crew cherished their freedom and refused to submit to any authority they did not respect.
  • Respect the Sea: Though pirates, they held the sea as sacred. Superstitions, offerings, and respect for the ocean’s creatures were part of daily life.
  • Controlled Territories
