Duke/Duchess

Duties

Dukedom is the highest form of Noblity and as such, they are quite rare with most Kingdoms only having 1-3 Dukes/Duchesses. They are in charge of the Counties of the land and spend their time governing from the capital cities of a kingdom. Using their force and power to serve and advise their monarchs. They are often spellcasters and use these powers to advise their Regents.

Responsibilities

Dukes/Duchesses are expected to not just enforce Imperial will but to create it themselves. Assigning goals to their lessers to fulfill. Whether it be invasions, diplomacy or defense they are expected to actively work towards expanding and reinforcing the Empire

Benefits

Dukes/Duchesses are at the point in wealth where they can purchase any mundane object easily and further can often have access to magic items of significant power to keep as family heirlooms. The armies they wield can number up to 50k soldiers, and a mix of knights, and lords, all the way up to the counts directly beneath them. They will almost never appear on the frontline of any battle the Emperor or Empress is not personally attending. They will often hold several keeps, castles, and manors spread throughout their territories. Furthermore and land or holdings belonging to the lesser nobles can and are entirely forfeit if a Duke/Duchess requests it become theirs.
