Atar, God of Fate

Inevitability Creation Foresight (a.k.a. The First of the Ancients)

Divine Domains

Knowledge, Order, Tempest   Followers of Atar, God of Fate, seek to keep the world from the many destructive paths available to it, as foretold in The Prophecy of the Unerring Path. Atar's faithful believe in the essential nature of every action, inaction, and decision and are very deliberate in the way that they speak, act, and spend much time in contemplation. Often the followers of Atar are seen performing some seemingly inane or pointless task which they will claim has been deemed essential to keeping the world on the Unerring Path.

Tenets of Faith

Inevitability, Creation, Foresight   Followers of Atar seek pieces of the Perfect Knowledge and the cryptic guidance of the God of Fate so that they can better ensure that mortal kind remains on the Unerring Path.

Holidays

Atar is celebrated on the solstices and equinoxes when magical forces are at their strongest, and Atar's followers receive and offer readings and fortunes regarding what will happen in the coming season should everyone adhere to the Unerring Path. The solstices, in chronological order, are Mivita, Midlux, Midarbor, and Micaligo.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Atar is known as the God of Fate for his dedication to ensuring that all of existence arrives at the correct endpoint. Atar possesses the Perfect Knowledge, as was granted to him by the The Divine Construct during The Existential Permutation. Atar and his followers see with perfect clarity the Unerring Path, that Jeharr and all of existence is fated to follow. With the Perfect Knowledge, Atar guides mortals in ensuring that chaotic elements never disrupt the journey down the Unerring Path.   Atar is famously enigmatic, only ever delivering instructions in cryptic signs, to be interpreted by his most faithful of followers, who then carry out his will on Jeharr. The Gods are well known to seldom communicate directly with mortals, but Atar is said to have never even spoken directly to one of his own Saints. There is much speculation as to why Atar doesn't communicate with mortals let alone share the Perfect Knowledge with them.   The prevailing theories as to why Atar does not directly communicate with mortals are that mortals cannot possibly comprehend the Perfect Knowledge or even a being that possesses the Perfect Knowledge, or that to share the perfect knowledge or to communicate directly with mortals would be to put mortals and existence permanently off of the Unerring Path. The most popular theory, as conceived by Archseer Barthal Alimoy, is that it is somehow essential to the Unerring Path that a worthy mortal achieve the Perfect Knowledge by themselves.   Whatever the truth of Atar's relative silence might be, it makes him a solitary and amorphous God, one that is sometimes depicted as many different kinds of mortals regardless of sex or race. This is believed by many to represent the fact that no specific race has any greater responsibility to keep to the Unerring Path and that his worship accepts all who wish to take up the mantle.   Atar's followers often go off on seemingly useless or unrelated tasks and correctly deduce how the future might be effected by those actions. All that the followers of Atar do they do to preserve the sanctity of the Unerring Path and the world's adherence to it, regardless of the cost.   Atar and his followers are in constant conflict with chaotic elements that might put the world off of the Unerring Path. His Unique task occasionally even has him take sides against Gods that would otherwise be aligned with him, such as Rein, God of Integrity and Ahnita, Goddess of Compassion. Atar is diametrically opposed to his twin brother, Itar, God of Free Will, whom his followers refer to as The Divine Bastard. Atar is also in constant conflict with Lech, God of Depravity and Gaulgulis, God of Damnation as both of them seek to destroy or alter the world in such a way that is off of the Unerring Path.
