Divine Goals & Aspirations
Baltus is famously tied to Rein, God of Integrity, often playing the part of Rein's personal friend and confidant atop Arksend, where the two deities reside. Baltus' role is not to be understated, however, as his followers will be quick to point out. Where Rein is often portrayed as the main character and driving force in myths and legends, Baltus is the divine smith who forged the weapons with which Rein slays his enemies and the armor which protects him from harm. Behind every paladin of Rein, delivering the will of the divine good, there is a steadfast cleric of Baltus who watches his back, and beats the dents out of his armor.
Baltus sees to it that the expertise of craftsmen, from smiths to tailors to tanners, is passed on and recorded to be used in defense of Baltus' allies. Baltus also seeks to keep certain knowledge from falling into the hands of those who would abuse it, although he is quite confident that no follower of any other God, or any other God for that matter, would have the mettle to create and craft as Baltus and his followers do.
Baltus is diametrically opposed to unbridled destruction and foolishness. He has a harsh temper and is not afraid to obliterate his enemies and instruct his followers to do the same, but Baltus has inherited the responsibility for Jeharr and the creations of the Old God of Creation. Baltus is directly opposed to Gaulgulis, God of Damnation, as the profane creature that was once the greatest of the divine builders has since become a completely debased threat to all of existence. Baltus also has historically had a lasting hatred for Vaarmeq, God of Chance as his mischievous nature has been cause for many vanished or destroyed tools and priceless works of craftsmanship. Baltus is also often in conflict with Lech, Blair, and Ulrok.
