Hadeo City

A beacon of civilization, Hadeo City itself stands tall above the Valley.

Set into the Firetooth Mountains on the north, a great fifty-foot wall of silver white stone surrounds most of the official perimeter of the city, broken by tall round towers that flank massive arched gates. Inside the walls the city is divided into two distinct sections, the Overcity and the Undercity.

Twin Cities

Overcity

The Overcity is the above ground portion of the city, home to most of the Human and Elven citizens. It is based on the original settlement that existed before the arrival of the Earthshapers. Once inside the walls any new comer to the city can very easily see why it is also know as the City of Stone. The architecture of Hadeo's Overcity is one of the most unique on the whole of Ge'Raome. An eclectic mixture of Human, Dwarvish and even Elven, dating from anywhere from 1500 to 15 years ago.
The Overcity is also home to one of Hadeo's greatest marvels, The Stonerails  as series of ancient raised stone and metal rail lines that crisscross the Overcity.

Undercity

The Undercity is an impressive feat of engineering and craftsmanship in it's own right. A large cavern, roughly the same area of the Overcity, the undercity was supposedly hollowed out by the Earthshapers in the decades following their arrival. It serves as home to much of the Dwarvish and Gnomish citizens as well as housing for the main mining operations.
The Undercity is known for its unique architecture, which includes stone buildings, large caverns, and underground waterways. Many of the buildings are built into the rock formations and are connected by bridges and tunnels. The Undercity is a bustling hub of activity, with a strong sense of community among its inhabitants.   The main industry in the Undercity is mining, with a large portion of the cavern dedicated to the excavation and processing of various minerals and ores. The dwarves and gnomes are skilled miners, and their expertise has helped to make the Undercity a hub of commerce. Additionally, the Undercity is home to various artisan workshops, where skilled craftsmen produce items made from the minerals and ores mined in the caverns.   The Undercity is also known for its rich cultural heritage. Many of the dwarves and gnomes are descendants of those who originally came to Hadeo with the Earthshapers, and they have maintained their traditions and customs over the centuries. The Undercity is filled with large festivals and celebrations, with music, food, and drink playing a central role in these events.

History

The jewel of the Trampled Plains, Hadeo City is one of the oldest cities in all of Ge’Raome. While the Valley has been inhabited since at least the end of the 4th age modern Hadeo came into being roughly 1500 years ago. When the Grand Orcish Horde sieged down the Spinepeaks, the Earthshapers were forced to flee their ancestral halls. They journeyed south across the Trampled Plains and found solace among the denizens of the Valley. Finally at the end of their long pilgrimage the Earthshapers sealed off the mouth of the Hadeo Valley and erected the Grand Wall. Over the next few centuries the humans and dwarves of the valley would unite and found the twin cities of Hadeo.   United by the Poncle Cave, the older Overcity and the newly built Undercity would come together under the leadership of the Primarchs. Thanks to their alliance with the Earthshapers they managed to organize the great families. For nearly one thousand years the Anointed Primarchs ruled the Valley and protected it from the threats of the Trampled Plains. Then following the Sundering and the destruction of Sapportia, the Earthshapers began to die off as no new Heirs of Stone were found.   The chaos of the early Post-Sundering and the rapidly diminishing power of the Earthshapers combined to challenge and weaken the authority of the Anointed Primarchs. In the following centuries they were forced to secede more and more authority to outside factions. This all came to a head with the death of the last Primarch, Arch-Primarch Anteiro. When he suddenly died without a clear heir many of the noble houses laid claim to his title.   Driven by the growing instability and bloodshed of the following succession crisis, the recently ascendant Guilds gathered the support of a number of smaller noble houses. Together they were able to end the crisis and institute a new ruling Council of Hadeo.
