Jewel Market
The Jewel Market is smaller in scale than the nearby Grand Souk, but offers far grander merchandise, to a more exclusive clientele. It's chief purpose is buying and selling the rich supply of jewels that are dug out of Chult's mines, but many other rare and luxury items can also be bartered. The market is highly secure against thieves, pickpockets and loiterers, in part due to the patrolling guards, as well as the purposefully visible Gladiators, but also the merchants here tend to hire private security and undercover spies. Primarily, the Merchant Prince Zhanthi holds a monopoly over the jewel trade, though Wakanga O'Tamu has some involvement where magical items and stores are concerned.
The market itself is an expansive range of stalls and displays, together with bustling servers, assistants and appraisers, and naturally the constant watch of elite guards. generally visitors will be expected to adhere to stricter codes of dress and cleanliness here, as well as surrendering weapons before entry.
The proprietor of the Jewel Market is Hamdel Goldstone, an elderly gnome woman who has lived in Port Nyanzaru for longer than anyone still living. She has a reputation for being blunt but those who know her better, without earning her ire, know her to have a soft heart. It's Hamdel that deals with the appraisal, sale and exchange of specific magical jewelry.
Within the Jewel market can be found stores trading in more specific magical items, Selune's Curiosities deals in trinkets, components and objects of power, and Esmée's Boutique primarily sells exquisite magical clothing.
