Abigail

Abigail Lopez Melara (a.k.a. not_amelia)

She's a young woman with an old plan. Okay, not so old, but she has thought about everything in detail. She's planed her future (without ignoring that they could be unexpected events), and she plans her months, weeks, days an projects carefully.   She likes words and order, and she's convinced that both are related.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

A bit of exercise, a balanced diet and avoiding health damaging habits doesn't require much effort for her. It's one of the easiest elements of her routine and it works.   On the other hand, she is not particularly strong, fit, or attractive. She has no time to work on those goals, even if there was a time of her life when she was interested.   She has no chronic illnesses, not even important allergies, and if there is any inherited condition that should be considered relevant, it remains unnoticed.

Physical quirks

  • Ambidextrous
  • Effortless perfect posture
  • Specialized Equipment

While her purse is full of useful items, often including a notebook, a ballpoint pen, make up and her phone, none of those is special or hard too replace. Just practical.   Her wrist watch is irreplaceable, but that's because it was a present from her great-grandfather, not because it has a particular function.

    Mental characteristics

    Intellectual Characteristics

Even when she was a child, Abigail has always been obsessed with structure. Her favorite part of school was the schedules and she would always end up coordinating groups, because she enjoyed to organize the work. It wasn't that she needed it, or that she would freak out when thing weren't in order, she simple like structures and classifying things.   While she learnt to express that with numbers, tables and graphics, for her it was always easier to rely on words. She was still a teenager when she embraced the fact that her best skills were linguistic, and she decided that she would take advantage of that.

    Morality & Philosophy

For her, being a good person, is about fairness, not kindness. But she's also aware that is a personal thing. You can't force others to be fair, you can only make sure that you always are. If others' ways to interact or takes decisions, you'll do better walking away quietly that trying to fix them. They will find it if it's in them, and you won't be able to convince them if it's not.

You can be nice with everyone, specially when there is nobody else around. If you have good social skills, you can even be nice with both sides of a conflict. But you can only be fair if you know the whole story.
She's not a fan of heroism, not if it means that people should always get involved when something seems to be unfair. Sure, it would be nice if everyone helped others, and it's fair to stop those who are hurting others. But nobody should ever take part of a conflict without having all the information first.
Of course, it would be great if it was possible to verify the facts and help, but when it isn't possible, taking either side, no matter how things look, could only cause more trouble and injustice.

    History

Abigail met Alan's mom in her reading club; she introduce her to Alan when they became friends.   Now she will admit, laughing, that she expected them to become a couple, but nothing remotely similar occurred. They were close friends at first sight, and spent a lot of time talking about books, writing, schedules and things that were supposed to be secret but Alan knew anyway.

They met through Alan and became friends for other reasons, including fashion, historical books, one music band, and part of their moral codes.

    Nicknames & Petnames

Because they were introduced by Alan, Haru always knew Abigail's real name and didn't pay attention to her online alias, while Abigail was sure that Haru's was using her real name and will never get used to call her Ana.

    History

The deep admiration that Abigail feels towards Molly is the proof of how people can change their standards for those they like for some reason. Yes, the erratic schedule of Molly's blog updates had drove Abigail crazy for ages, but she would never complain. Molly doesn't even know about that admiration, she's just happy to count with Abigail's eye to spot inconsistencies in timelines and locations. On the other hand, ever since they started chatting online, Abigail has become a close friend, and that means the world for Molly, she hopes she's not too much of a burden sometimes.

    Motivation
She's looking for a simple, productive life and a career in the publishing industry. Everything is planned, even her job that may seem totally unrelated to her academic career, is not only an income source but a step to get in the job in a local publishing house.   Writing a novel with friends is more like a side project, that will give her a bit of extra experience, but she mostly joined for the fun (which in no way means that she takes the process lightly. Fun requires structure too.)

I stumbled upon Abigail while reading AdventureApril articles. The light and simple page stood out and seemed to reflect a little of her. I ended up reading through her page and then the world meta. You have it nicely in sync!
