Traditional Lyreanism

Influence

Traditional Lyreanism is predominant throughout the Orenmagne Empire, especially the provinces of Orenmagne, Odregoth, and Casael. It is not as closely followed in the province of Linara.   Traditional Lyreanism is also the most commonly followed sect of Lyreanism followed in the frontier territories (where it is a minority religion) of Kaerinthe, even seeing some following in other places in the Multifold. This is likely due to the scope of the Orenmagne Empire and its influence. Traditional Lyreanism has large, well established Forums to each of their nine deities centered within the Empire itself.

Core Tenets

Traditional Lyreanism believes in the Lyrean Pantheon of nine gods, however it is important to note that the core values of Lyreanism do not tend towards ideas such as moderation or balance. Instead, it encourages following and investing one's worship towards a single deity and its associated Forum while maintaining a respect for other the other eight.

Ideological Conflicts

Traditional Lyreanism often butts heads with all three other sects of Lyreanism.   Stonemont Lyreanism:   In the past, a tense rivalry existed with Stonemont Lyreanism, a massively popular sect localized in the Empire's Linara province. Over time, other interests, both political and economic have reigned in the outrage of the Traditional Lyrean Forums against Linara in interest of maintaining the unity and strength of the Empire. The core disagreement centered on Stonemont Lyreanism's 10th deity referred to as "Our Lady in Stone". Stonemont Lyreanism proclaims that their deity is the single, primary deity and that the other nine are more akin to lesser gods that serve underneath her. Stonemonts also take a more moderate view of the Goddess Deionae.   Fylen Lyreanism:   As of the Fylen Secession, Traditional Lyreanism has been most at odds with Fylen Lyreanism, practiced most commonly in the nation of Fyluine. A core conflict of the Secession centered on the role and regulation of magic in the Empire and similar disagreements were carried to their differing perceptions of Deionae, the Goddess of Magic. Fylen Lyreanism holds that Deionae is a goddess that favors the free practice and pursuit of magical learning, while Traditional Lyreanism holds that Deionae is a goddess that favors careful control of magical learning due to its inherent danger.   One Path Lyreanism:   One Path Lyreanism, practiced in the nation of Sojun, is considered by some as a more spiritual version of Lyreanism, taking the core Lyrean idea of dedicating oneself to one god, and expounding on it. They preach adherence to the "One Path" that a person chooses which is often a Lyrean god, but sometimes even just a single ideal valued by that god. As such, Traditional Lyreanism often views One Path Lyreanism as losing the true way and abandoning the gods, by only focusing on one ideal so strongly. More often than not, however, the disagreement between the two sects is played up in order to drum up outrage for the tensions between Sojun and the Empire.
