Listener

The individual who has been chosen to have a direct line of communication with The One.

Qualifications

There are no qualifications to be met, other than an abundance of Faith for the One, and a willingness to lay everything down in his service.

Requirements

The individual becoming the Listener must be willing to sacrifice the rest of his or her life in service to the role, or until The One says their term is over.

Appointment

An individual only needs to be appointed by the One, expressed by being hand-picked by the current Listener. There are no special ceremonies. Despite the importance of the role, it is not a greatly celebrated position.

Duties

The individual must serve as the Listener, and mouth of The One.

Responsibilities

The Listener is to be in constant communication with The One, making all decisions related to the rule of the Holy City of the One, and communication with the affiliated tribes. While the exact details are unclear, the primary manner in which this takes place is with is the writing of laws. In theory, it is The One himself who is in charge, with the Listener serving as merely his mouthpiece.

Benefits

The Listener gets to live a comfortable life under armed supervision when in the Temple, and every aspect of their life is taken care of for them by their caretakers. Outside of the temple, they are followed by their armed guards and caretakers.

Accoutrements & Equipment

The Listener typically only wears simple robes designed to signify that they aren't important, and are only serving as the mouthpiece of The One. Wearing Jewelry is frowned upon, since it is seen as overinflating their self importance.

History

The first Listener never truly received the title, but was one person selected by the One to be capable of direct communication. He left his former life, and fully committed to his faith in the One, establishing what is now known as the Holy City
When the Holy City was completed, the first official Listener was appointed. Her name was Ktarn. The reason she was appointed, was because she had already been selected by The One to be the living person who communicate with him most. Being the one person with the authority to communicate with The One, the citizens saw it to be appropriate to have Ktarn  be in charge of all political and economic decisions, since it would be just like having The One as their ruler. The next Listener would be selected by The One and therefore hand-picked by Ktarn. Upon Ktarn death, the new Listener took charge. This repeated, over and over, the Listener appointing the next by order of the One, up until current day.

This rank is seen as the ultimate authority figure by all Kairothians who hold the Faith

The Listener is always directly appointed by The One. The Listener is trusted to be the mouth of The One to the people.

Length of Term

The term begins immediately upon either the death of the previous Listener, or when the previous listener steps down. The term ends when either the Listener dies, or steps down.
