The Black Paladins
While The Paladin Order has many sects and beliefs within it, the Black Paladins are perhaps the most notable, namely because they actually separated from the order.
Black Paladins are based in the Fallen City of Halteri, and are known for their imposing armor and dark visage. They are also known as “Mage-Hunters” as they used to act as Halteri’s anti-magic police.
The primary difference between the Black Paladins and the Paladin Order is that the Black Paladins swear a secondary oath of fealty to Halteri specifically, right after their primary Paladin Oath. This puts them at odds with the Paladin Order which tries to preach that the Order shouldn't swear fealty to anything but their divine work, though this ignores the thousands of Paladins that swear fealty to specific nations or monarchs, or the fact that the Order itself is heavily entrenched and involved in the running of Heldir. Though many suspect the big issue in the common day between the two Orders is that the Black Paladins used to make a point to help Halteri enforce its anti-magic laws and help hunt mages before such laws were dissolved.
