Vanguard of Irokori

As the Year of Irokori approached (7007 in the Vincaran calendar, 4231 in the Melzeen calendar), an extremist group began to gain traction. They believed that rather than simply burning prayers, as the mainstream Temple of Irokori did, the goddess' faithful should literally set ablaze whatever they didn't like in the world. Their activities started with burning effigies, then small buildings, then city blocks. At least one case of a Kavrillian being burned to death also occurred.

Structure

The Vanguard's cultists are only loosely organized, often acting in small groups.  They do not have a headquarters or hub, choosing instead to meet in empty lots, parks, or outside of town.  They all agree on two things, however:  the goddess wants them to burn lots of things, and the Herald of Irokori is Her chosen speaker who knows best.

Culture

More men than women belong to the Vanguard.  Whether this is because women devotees of Irokori can join the mainstream temple, or simply because of the patriarchal nature of Vincaran society, it's hard to say.

Assets

A few wealthy benefactors have directed funds to the Vanguard, and the Vincaran Federation secretly supports the cult within the Lanarian Empire, hoping it will weaken and distract their enemies.

Disbandment

The Vanguard awaits a clear sign during the Year of Irokori that the goddess has been born into the cosmos.  Once this occurs they will have fulfilled their goal of paving the way for Her coming, and will disperse.
