As the dust settles from the assassinations and the month of Pelu dawns, Shard-Bearers begin to feel a familiar tug, as the next Oracle is on the horizon.
And then it comes. Whatever Shard-Bearers were doing prior, they find themselves pulled into a deep sleep as they are individually approached by the Advocate — the Oracle. It is a presence that seeks to understand Shard-Bearers, encouraging them to share where they came from. Those who do will find re-creations of their worlds amid the trial — imperfect, but theirs all the same, that each and every Shard-Bearer will spend 12 hours in as they journey from world to world, experiencing 31 in total.
In each world are two Shards: that of the world itself, and one similar to the Bearer who dreamed of the world. Through their journeys Shard-Bearers could either seek out these Shards or simply experience the world before moving on to the next one — but not before being asked by the Advocate to vote whether the world should have a chance to live, or if it should cease to exist... Or, more accurately, if the world should suffer a drawn-out death in the face of Oblivion, or a simple end.
Zenith claimed the Oracle, but as the Shard-Bearers voted, they were inadvertently contributing to how long they slept. By the time they had finished their journeys, 114 years had passed in the wider world of Kenos — even though it had only been a little over two weeks for them.
With the trial over, Shard-Bearers find themselves floating in an endless sea of stars that are snuffed out by the blackness of nothing. Turning its attention to them, it leaves them an ominous message — and then, 114 years later, they awake.
