Mareike the Seer

Mareike was the author of the 4th and 5th Edras. Spending her entire life as a slave on a plantation in Beluir, she was on her deathbed the day Lysander ascended to the heavens. Feeling a sudden burst of clarity, Mareike demanded a quill and paper and wrote without food or rest for three days. Upon finishing the last page, she passed into a deep sleep and died. Her writings were discovered by Yuriel the Blessed, who considered them a work of divine inspiration. As Mareike was illiterate, Lysandrians consider her writing to be a miracle demonstrating the power of their god.

Sainthood

In 1406, Mareike’s body was disinterred from her grave in Beluir to be moved to the Crypt of the Holies. Her corpse was found to be perfectly preserved, considered another miracle of Lysander’s. Zosimus soon declared her a saint, and she was soon revered by those hoping for divine inspiration.
