Personal History
Valora was raised on an estate in the Berian Empire not far from the border with the Luminated Alliance. Her parents were both wealthy diplomats who traveled abroad to meet with politicians, royalty, and religious figures, and Valora would sometimes accompany them along with a crew of tutors and handmaids.
Valora's parents, especially her father, were protective and strict, with very high expectations. At a young age, Valora was told exactly what sort of life she was meant to have, the sort of person she would marry, the sort of skills she would be taught, and the sort of people she would be around. She was taught to behave as a noblewoman, with strict lessons in etiquette. She was also taught archery as a unique skill that her father thought might allow her to stand out among the other ladies in the empire.
Valora's father passed away several years before the Darkness returned. Her mother wished for her to settle down and marry an empire official, but Valora wanted something different for her life. She couldn't see herself staying in the same place, playing hostess to city officials and eventually having to marry. Her mother's pressures combined with a restless desire for freedom led Valora to run away from home. She traveled the continent and beyond, meeting a variety of people, and earning coin by selling trophies from her hunts and capturing bounties.
When the Darkness struck, Valora happened to find herself safely within the walls of Din'Lux. As soon as she was able, she risked leaving the city in order to return to her family's estate. When she arrived, she found nothing but a muddy marsh. Her childhood home had been taken by the Darkness and with it, her mother. For several years, Valora was paralyzed by her grief. She blamed herself for running away and leaving her family behind. Eventually, though, Valora's restlessness returned. She joined the Seekers' Guild in the hopes of escaping the city walls and finding a purpose once again.
Polite and well-bred. Deadly with a bow.
