Nicholas
Grand Duke Nicholas Constantinovich was the son of Tsar Constantine I of Russia. Having gained a notorious reputation in his youth, he was stripped of his title as Tsesarevich, barred from the line of succession, and exiled to the Russian frontier in 1873. While in exile, he married a common woman, further cementing his disinheritance. He also used his personal wealth to implement structural reforms, such as improvedĀ irrigation and canals, to his adopted home. Upon the rebellion of his cousin, Alexander's, conservative rebellion from Kiev, he had hoped he would be reinstated as heir to Russia, or granted a seat at the court of Ukraine. However, Alexander did not entertain either idea. Nicholas died in exile.
