Session 1 : Meeting!

General Summary

This is an excerpt from one of the Taleniu Hastagrun - Dictated by Historian Hamulleng.
Ah So you want to hear about session 1 eh? The meeting? Well let me see I think I can conjure up a brief synopsis...   A very large party was being held. Quite a few of the whos who as it were, had been invited to this party so of course Jasper Valenwood would be there. Jasper Mingled with the guests as before the main event and eventually ran into Connor Coragem, an old gambling friend who previously worked in the court, now though the young man seemed different. I believe it was the mask or the eyes, one cannot really say. Connor and Jasper exchanged a few words and then Connor sat down at a table drinking some of the finest elven wine. It was around this time when Mr. turner Waterby, a newly minted Banker and his musclebound associate Clara Voss entered the party. I do recall they were harassed by quite an annoying librarian seeking a loan and having a low tolerance for people of a lower economic status. Both parties lost patience with one another very quick and Turner and Voss moved on and ended up sitting down at the same table as Connor. There was conversation with a local casino owner as Turner and Voss were out to make some business connections. Jasper made his rounds and ended up also talking to Mr Turner and madam Voss before spying his sister making her own entrance to the party.   Upon circling over to his family table and having his sister steal his seat Jasper stood a little off to the side of his father, who in no great fatherly way, sent his son to sit elsewhere. Clearly some sort of family issues there but I digress. Dinner had been served and the beautiful little automatons carried food and drink left and right. Those little guys can go, I remember when I was a young lad in the capital and the grand mages would try out the new models of such things mixed with magic and science, what a creative time in fact back in the day I was able to...   Apologies. I have been told to stay on track and not detract the story with grandeur although I am unsure that our other historians here really know how to tell a story. Yes that was meant for you Modellian!   Dinner precluded with the king entering and giving some speech about all of the lovely rich people and Jasper ended up finding a seat at the table with Mr. turner, Voss and Connor. Dessert was served. Quite a nice dessert an elven delicacy and I do love those, yes yes Modellian I am staying on track this is relevant!...about this time the city alarm was rung scaring the wits out of me to be honest it was quite loud. Some of the royal inner guard came rushing in and hushed whispers circled around. I am not sure where it came from but I will bet the soles of my shoes that someone said the queen had been murdered. I would have won that bet.   Jasper excused himself from the table and went to find out what sort of gossip he could from his family. Unfortunately during some of the commotion they had excused themselves and quite forgot to bring young Jasper with them. He circled back over to the table gathering his thoughts. It turns out one of the other guests at this table was renown war general Odar. Grimbly Odar. No I am not joking. Anyways. General Odar told Jasper that they should get out while the getting out was good and Jasper motioned for Young Connor to follow him, I believe a phrase was used such as "we have been dealt a bad hand" or some such nonsense.   I do recall Turner and Voss seeing this and decided to stick close as the reception they had had at that party had not been the fanfare they had expected so it did come as a bit of a shock when the guards wouldn't let anyone leave the room including an heir to the Valenwood fortune.   Panic. That was the general feeling of the room while these four characters we have centered on made their way back to the general. I remember he seemed quite annoyed that they had not left yet and hummed and hahhed about the situation for a moment before getting up and showing them to a strange pillar where there was a secret entrance. He fiddled with it for a moment before it opened and a figure was standing in the dark inside the pillar. Yes inside the Pillar Modellian, I just finished saying that it was a secret entrance. Would you like to tell the story? I thought not. Now anyways, ah yes so the figure standing in the dark was none other then Renauld Derick Marshal Baptiste of Blackstone. Surprise lit up Jaspers face like one of those holiday trees or I will eat my own boot. See they knew each other. Some sort of relationship where there was experiments and crime or was it liberation? Its a story for another time.   They were ushered into the Dark with Sir Renauld while general Odar slid the door closed and the party members disappeared. Renauld started to lead them down a spiral staircase below the event hall . It was at this point screaming could be heard from the poor souls above. Yes I do think a prayer for them would be appropriate but as there's not gods left to pray to I think I will pass. Loud thuds could be heard by the shocked party as it sounded like there was some struggling coming back the way they had come. Seems they left just in time I agree. Renauld led the small crew into a room with maps and papers and sigils and other such nonsense covering the wall.   I believe this is the point the session ended. I remember Ms. Clara had quite too much to drink and fell asleep... eh? What do you mean she didn't fall asleep? I swear Modellian every time I get right into some details your always there with a question or something you think is a correction. Fine. Suffice to say this is where we will leave this entry for now. A lot to think on.
