NikNak

Niknak was once a lowly kobold, the least of the Sootscale Kobolds warriors. He was prized for his loyalty to the chief, but he was too small to be sent out on raids like his brother Mikmek, so he took the solemn duty of guarding the Sootscale Caverns. When the Silver Dicks first appeared, Niknak was afraid, but he decided to see if he could convince them to help his tribe. When he was chosen to escort them to the Old Sycamore, he jumped at the chance to prove that he was as brave and powerful as his brother.
Niknak led the Silver Dicks to the Old Sycamore and joined their fight when they smoked the mites out of their hole. The mites were too many, and their centipedes too strong, and Niknak took a mortal wound. As he lay bleeding on the ground, all of his self doubt came crashing down upon him. Was he doomed to die as a weaker imitation of his brother? Was he willing to give up and let the centipede poison take him? It seemed like a peaceful end, if not one he could be proud of. Determination struck the heart of the little kobold. He would not lay down and wait for death to take him. He would live to be remembered as more than the runt of the Sootscales!
When he awoke, the kobold was surrounded by the bodies of mites and centipedes. His tall friends had survived the battle and slain the entire mite tribe. Niknak swore that he would one day be as strong as the big folk. In the depths of the caverns beneath the old stump, Niknak discovered his brothers fate. He had been cruelly tortured by the mites and died on their table. Niknak picked up a bone dagger, one of the torture implements that led to his brother's death, and swore vengeance on any fey who yet lived in the Stolen Lands.
Now Niknak has been reunited with the Sootscales, having gone on a grand adventure. He helped kill Tartuk, the fake kobold shaman that had been a plague upon his people, and he is helping the chief lead their people to a promised land in the north. An abandoned fort that they can live under with the protection of the Silver Dicks close by. For now, Niknak is content to help lead his people, but he has had a taste of adventure, and it won't be long before the wanderlust strikes him again.
