Dragon Sun Library

Overview

The Dragon Sun Library is the library to get to when you want to read a book, have a chat or gather knowledge or information. At least in Hulwar. The library of the University is off limits for the public and there are only a few other libraries in Manvongr. And none of them is so cozy as the Dragon Sun Library.

History

"Dragon Sun Library" was not always the name of this building. During the Dragon Sun Empire it was known as "Rising Sun Library" because of the way it glittered in the early morning sun, which gave the building the name. After all these years it is still covered in scale-like tiles out of clay and coated with a thin layer of brass so it looked like a Brass Dragon.

At the start of the Silver Moon Era the library got new funds and was supplied with everything it needed. Be it books, parchments, refreshments or people who were gathering books, scrolls and everything else.

The library was a quiet place, but also a place for socialising. There were - and still are - two areas to talk and laugh. One is the garden in the back, the other one the glass dome on top of the library.

During the days of the Dragon Sun Empire it was sometimes the last building which was besieged and sometimes it was the only hope for the soldiers. Depending on the Era. But it was one of the buildings which survived the rise and fall of the Dragon Sun Empire and saw the rise of Hulwar, the kingdom of mankind.

And it is still ruled by the same owner.

Owner

Lib, the Library Dragon is practically the owner of the Dragon Sun Library. She was found by Wherda and Siegfrey, children of the Golden Sun bloodline.

Lib is a Brown Dragon and one of the smallest. She easily fits in an oversized armchair and while bite you if you damage one of her precious. Her only interest is collecting knowledge, books, tomes, scripts, parchment pages & rolls and whatever someone could craft some kind of communication, story or news into or onto it.

Communications outside & inside

The library is divided into various sections like probably every library in the world. But the library also contains a section on specific knowledge about languages and communications which not even the University holds. That includes knowledge of Sign Language and the Secret Knotting Technique of the bloodmages of the Longardir.

Also the library was used by spies as the main meeting point. Mostly they were spies from the Dragon Sun Empire, but sometimes spies from outside. Lib (the Library Dragon) spotted them all. How is her secret, but she hissed at them and everyone had to swear not to damage the things in the shelves, be it books or tablets.

One time a spy did exactly that and was gnawed at, fried and eaten. Lib does not joke around her precious darlings.

• -Put your reading material back from where you got them or at one of the wagons
• -Respect your surroundings. There are other people reading
• -Respect every race. No discussion.
• -Follow the orders of Lib. Or get gnawed at.

Don'ts

• -Do not hurt the reading material with scratches or stains
• -Do not disturb other peoples studies
• -Do not get rid of your clothes (wet coats are acceptable)
• -Under no circumstances anger Lib
