Etica is from a very minor aristocratic family from Dege. She is the estranged wife of Teruus Coubigus, the Awatcovus Occusu.

Personal history
Etica is from an unimportant noble family and she chafes from that station. Perhaps that is why she is so sensitive to appearances. In any case, she was mortified when she was betrothed to Teruus Coubigus for political reasons; she had no desire to live in Taadva "with a bunch of savage little dragon dogs." She remained in Taadva, openly hostile to both her husband and his subjects until the second birthday of their younger daughter, Silcimtila. Declaring that she had done her matrimonial duty, she departed and lives in Iccim. Her relationship with her younger daughter is non-existent, and her relationship with her elder daughter, Gamsoga is hostile. She has no ill will or bitter feelings toward Coubigus, even feeling mild affection for him, but she will not consent to live in his keep even one more minute of her life.
