Khuldings

When Mortag set out to create his peoples, he took a primate, made it into stone and precious metals, and hammered it on his anvil until the khuldings came to be. Or so the story goes. In any case, the khuldings are an intelligent branch of primates distinct from the hominins. It is possible that Mortag used the same common ancestor from which the calabids evolved, since the khuldings also seem to have adapted to burrows and caves.
