The Wavecrest Father or Mother
The Wavecrest Father or Mother is the High Priest or Priestess of the Lighthouse Assembly, devoted to Threlved.
Requirements
- Must be a serving Swell at the time of their election
- Must have served as an ordained member of the Tidemistress' priesthood for a minimum of thirty years
- Must never have been tried for blasphemy, regardless of the verdict
Appointment
When a Wavecrest Father or Mother dies, the Swells of all the Temples of Sargaas meet in conclave at Apcotun. Their sole authority and purpose during this Conclave is to elect a new Wavecrest Mother or Father from among their ranks.
Duties
The Wavecrest Father or Mother must always see to the interests of the Lighthouse Assembly, regardless of their personal bias or interest.
Responsibilities
- Appointing the Swells to lead the local temples. This responsibility, more than any other, governs the future of the Assembly, for when they die, it is the Swells who will elect their successor.
- Issuing proclaimations regarding the Doctrine of the Assembly in matters of interpretation of scripture.
- Reviewing and updating the liturgy of the Assembly, when it is needed.
- Overseeing the actions of the Swells, and dismissing them, if necessary.
- Serving as judge of last resort in trials for blasphemy.
- Offering the Sacrifice of Ten Drops during the Chaining of the Tide.
