Swell

A Swell is the lead priest or priestess at a temple of the Lighthouse Assembly. They have oversight responsibility for the branch shrines to the Tidemistress, as well.

Requirements

Must have served among the Tidebrethren for at least a decade, preferably two.

Appointment

The Wavecrest Mother or Father appoints a Swell upon a position becoming open.

Duties

The Swell must always put the needs of the local temple and shrines above their own biases and prejudices.

Responsibilities

• Administrative oversight of the local Temple and the shrines that support it
• Oversight of the production and sale of gladgduledrur (pronounced glawj-DOOL-dreh), the sacred wine vinted with seawater.
• Examination and ordination of the Tidebrethren from the ranks of the Seachildren.
• Conduct of primary religious ceremonies (held on the full and new moons).
• Conduct of religious ceremonies during the Chaining of the Tide and the Swell of the Tidemistress.
• Judge in trials for blasphemy.
• Attend and participate in the Conclave of Swells, when necessary, to select a new Wavecrest Father or Mother.
