Aelzan
Overlord of Korrisia Nera
Overlord Aelzan is the most powerful single figure in the Material Plane of Korrisia to current date. The supreme executive power in the Korrisian Empire, Aelzan's word is law, and all bend the knee to the Overlord's throne. The being who would become the Overlord rose to prominence in the Calemdarian Senate, quickly becoming one of the most popular political figures in the Republic. Aelzan would enjoy victory over the sitting Chancellor and become the Head of Government in the Republic. After several months, Aelzan was able to reform most laws granting the Chancellor powers that none could check. After the violent death of the Skywatchers and of so many armies of the sovereign nations of Korrisia, Aelzan launched a worldwide campaign to conquer all other kingdoms and nations.
Within only a few short years, the Overlord was able to force all nations to bend the knee, and reformed Calemdar into the Korrisian Empire, establishing the Overlord's Laws across all four corners of the globe.
Aelzan is so much more than anyone understands, yet at the same time oddly simple. There are suspicions that the Overlord is a Mind Flayer, a Gith, a creature from beyond the realms that has asserted control over the mortal races. Aelzan's true identity is that she was once known as Nera. As the Skywatchers' power grew, as did Nera's. She would never attain her godly form again, but this was not her purpose. Nera understood that she had a power beyond mortal comprehension, and through the Skywatchers' passion, she too wished to safeguard Korrisia from all evils. Nera was able to create new aspects of herself, and distribute them where needed in order to learn and grow. One aspect was dispatched to the Wizard's College of Calemdar, another to seek answers from the Archlich Vecna, and a third to travel the Planes in pursuit of knowledge.
It was this third aspect that truly found the answer, she stumbled across a ruined and burned city. Nera's abilities to see and speak with the dead allowed her to see into the memories of all who walked there, the Eldorians. She was able to call upon and bind the soul of Myrddin back from the great beyond, and she learned from him, she learned everything from him. With his knowledge, Nera was able to unlock the mysteries of the First Emperor, and through this she was able to learn his ability of Edicts. With her knowledge of the Arcane surpassing any other living being, and the teachings of Vecna about how to control these powers, along with the inspiration of the Skywatchers, Nera understood her purpose and understood that the heroics of the Skywatchers or the scheming of the Archlich behind the scenes would not be enough to safeguard Korrisia, the planet must be ruled with an iron fist and controlled in order to be protected.
With this knowledge growing, she created a fourth aspect, Aelzan. She was able to create a small noble house of no renown, and grow this name into one that would eventually inspire millions. Aelzan was able to easily navigate the political waters of the mortals in the Calemdarian Senate. She understood and respected Calemdar, but they were useless in protecting the world, a nation obsessed with protecting all, but barely wanting to involve itself. She was able to then maneuver into the seat of Chancellor of Calemdar, and her true plans came to fruition.

Aelzan is a woman of near godlike beauty. She stands at 6'0" tall, with perfect posture. Her skin is a ceramic white, and it is flawless, she has no scars, no deformities. Aelzan's hair is long and black, always straight and always down and flowing, pushed away from her face with her imperial crown. Aelzan stands in peak physical condition, her arms, legs, and core are incredibly well-toned showing her immense fitness.
Physical quirks
Aelzan is not one to physically present her emotion, her nonverbals are kept under perfect control. When speaking with subjects, she often speaks softly yet with a confidence that could inspire anyone. The Overlord never has reason to raise her voice or shout.
When standing or sitting, her hands are often neatly folded into each other, but at times she talks with her hands expressively. When not interacting with the Archons, Aelzan lightly smiles and at times physically makes contact with citizens, holding the hand of a grieving mother, hugging a frightened child, carrying a wounded soldier.
Apparel & Accessories
The Overlord is often found wearing long red dresses and robes, often clad with Adamantine metal for decoration. She also has a set of black Adamantine armor when entering into battle. The armor is heavier, but has several components replaced with Mythril to ensure she has freedom of movement and can effectively spellcast without feeling encumbered.
Aelzan tends to avoid exorbitant amounts of jewelry, stating that she has little need to flaunt her status with hunks of metal strapped to her ears and neck. She wears a black ring made of Shadow Iron from the Shadowfell, and an Adamantine bracelet that is marked with arcane runes.

Personal history
Little is known about Lord Aelzan before the coming of the Iron Watchers in the Senate of Calemdar. Numerous individuals including scholars, political opponents, journalists, simply intrigued individuals, and even some adventurers have worked to try and unmask the history of Lord Aelzan, and to understand the future impact that will be had on the world by Aelzan's presence. What is known by those who have interacted with Aelzan, or founding members of the Iron Watchers, is that Aelzan is revered in magical and martial ability. Being a faction leader, Aelzan has a sizeable retinue of Calemdarian soldiers from all of the Senators and lords in Calemdar have pledged.
Lord Aelzan is a political powerhouse during their rise in the Calemdarian Senate. The leader of a particularly vicious militant sect, Aelzan seeks to return Calemdar to its rightful place as the superpower of Korrisia, and to enforce the peace of the entire world. Aelzan comes from seemingly nothing, many political opponents have sought dirt or utilized intrigue to blackmail or force Aelzan to do their bidding, but all have come up short or have oddly disappeared.
It is believed that Aelzan is not the individual's original name, and that Aelzan appeared out of thin air. Some speculate to hide a long and grizzled past, others believe it was seen as a fresh start, and a few believe it is to protect friends and family, of which Aelzan seemingly has none. Lord Aelzan is the newest political opponent to the current sitting Lord Chancellor, Goryn Luidhack, and is seen as his antithesis, instead of peace talks and staying out of all foreign matters, Aelzan believes that Calemdar should be the primary force of Korrisia and enforce peace, but also hold all peoples of the world under a set of universal laws. These laws would restrict many freedoms that are uncontrolled to this day. The primary platform of Lord Aelzan is to have state-controlled and managed spellcasters, the College of Calemdar has operated free for far too long, and spellcasters are the source of some of the worst atrocities in Korrisian History. Aelzan also believes that the antiquated laws and codes of some of the older kingdoms must be wiped away. Finally, the rampant warfare, backstabbing, and civil strife that most nations face must be brought to heel. The Thronebreaker of Arcanum should be executed immediately, the kingdoms of Drang and Keoland should be dissolved and reconstructed.
Aelzan is a force to be reckoned with, and many perceive that the faction in the senate, which many have seen to call them the "Iron Watchers" will continue to grow as several highly influential and charismatic senators have already broken ranks. Aelzan has eyes for the chair of Lord Chancellor, but there are those who fear that Aelzan is the next incarnation of Emperor Calemdar the Bloodspiller, others believe that Aelzan brings the necessary force of will to keep the world under control.
What is most peculiar about Lord Aelzan, is that almost no one can actually describe Aelzan's physical appearance. Lord Aelzan was the only senator that was never present, but always votes either by proxy, drafted and sealed letter, or via magical means. Those in the Iron Watchers claim it is because Aelzan has so many political opponents, there is a fear of assassination attempts, other Iron Watchers cackle at the idea, stating that Aelzan is unbeatable on the battlefield and could subdue any enemy, and that Aelzan simply doesn't trouble themselves with the matters of others, and is constantly working on other things.
Only a small few have claimed to meet with Lord Aelzan in person, but they refuse to speak of the experience, simply stating that to be in Aelzan's presence is inspiring, and life altering.
In most recent history, Lord Aelzan had become the Chancellor of Calemdar, of which the Senate attempted to halt. Aelzan had already maneuvered the right pieces into place to invalidate the Senate's ruling, most generals and land-holding nobles had already pledged allegiance to their new Chancellor. Aelzan's rise to power would be darkened by the revelation that the Cult of the Bloody Daggers, the original order loyal to Kormund and his Underlords, had returned. Aelzan sent emissaries to assist the other Korrisian nations in their defense against such a vicious foe. Led by the Skywatchers, a coalition army marched on Old Calemdar to face the Cult, their vile servants, and of course to halt the awakening of the Underlord imprisoned under the old College, Rak Tulkhesh. After a titanic battle between mortal and fiend, Rak Tulkhesh emerged from his prison, touting and bragging about his vicious killing of the great heroes of the age, and presented Aelzan's generals with their mangled corpses, before slaughtering all forces in the coalition army.
In secret, Aelzan had sent a sizeable force to the Northern Territories to conquer each city and province, bringing them into the Republic's fold. Undaunted by the disappearance of the Democratic Process (as the senate had been arrested for treason) Aelzan was able to annex all lands to the north. After Rak Tulkhesh's disappearance, Aelzan made the move to declare all democratic aspects of Calemdar illegal, and become the Emperor of the newly created Northern Empire. Aezlan launched a global assault against the other nations of the world, and within six short years all had been conquered. The Northern Empire reformed once more into the Korrisian Empire, and Aelzan was named Overlord of Korrisia.
Some believe Aelzan actually descends from the Eldorians, in that Aelzan's magical prowess is far beyond the current understanding of all other magical scholars. It would explain the mental acuity, strategic prowess, and political shrewdness that has been shown all throughout Aelzan's existence. Many believe the Edicts that Aelzan is capable of reminiscent of the First Emperor's declarations, stating that the words that burned all of Eldoria to be the First Emperor's last Edict. Regardless, Aelzan has forever changed the face of Korrisia (literally and figuratively), and it's vastly unknown if the world will continue to stand under one banner, or if Aelzan's rule will come to an end, many wish it so, others feel that Aelzan is the savior of all mortal races.
Mental Trauma
The only major trauma that Aelzan would ever speak of is the deaths of her friends, who were members of the Skywatchers. When she speaks of the event, it is one of the only moments she would show sincere and deep sorrow, one that could cause the clouds to gather and weep with her. Nera was in one way destroyed, but her other aspects felt every bit of the pain. After Rak Tulkhesh escaped, Aelzan walked the grounds of the Old Calemdarian College, she saw what remained of her friends, it broke her.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
The Overlord is entirely committed to the protection of the Material Plane. Drawing inspiration from her fallen friends the Skywatchers, from her teachings with the Deity Vecna, and her time spent with Myrddin she wishes nothing but absolute safety from all external and internal threats to the realm. She vowed to herself that the peoples of Korrisia would no longer have to fear the Underlords, and that safety is paramount, even if rights and privileges must be surrendered.
Aelzan has a firm belief that the mortals of the Prime Material should stay out of the affairs of the greater Multiverse. While other planes and realms have vast knowledge, potential allies, and unknown secrets, it is far too dangerous to lurk. Aelzan fears that any mortals who wander too far will be corrupted, utilized as puppets by the Underlords in order to open just enough of a doorway into Korrisia for the Underlords to gain a foothold.
Savvies & Ineptitudes
Aelzan is a masterful diplomat with extreme control of her emotions and actions. She is nearly impossible to anger or to surprise, but greets these moments with renewed interest, seeing it as an opportunity to continue learning and perfecting herself. The Overlord also spends countless hours in meditation to have full control of herself mentally, physically, and spiritually. When time permits, Aelzan reads books from all across Korrisia to learn culture, inspire her imagination, evoke creativity, and more.
In battle, the Overlord is a foe worth notice even to the gods. Aelzan prefers use of a Longsword when required to do melee combat, and is exceptional with a blade. Personally, Aelzan would prefer to simply use her mastery of the arcane, with an extensive knowledge of every spell in the Wizard's library she can command the Winds of Magic with relative ease. Her divine heritage permits her use of the Wish spell without fear of losing it, but she prefers to not bend reality to her whim, but to influence it with her skill and intelligence.
