Depths of Dragonsteel
Upon investigating around Forgehammer, the party can discover a unique material: Dragonsteel.
After coming across records and some lingering amounts of the metal, they can piece together that the Forgehammer Dwarves had accidentally discovered a massive vein of it while mining for other resources deep beneath the Spine of the World—unlike normal mineral veins, Dragonsteel seemed to manifest in a large, unbroken line almost like a massive wall.
Though mining began immediately and some small amounts of the metal were gifted or sold to other nations, Forgehammer kept most of it for themselves as they began working and crafting with the metal. Unfortunately, this mining happened only a few years prior to the fall of Forgehammer, and after the Dragonborn Tribes scoured the entire Dwarven nation, Dragonsteel slipped back into myth. Attempting to find the Dragonsteel mine (which is considered taboo to Underdark denizens) may give the party the answers they're looking for, and may be an additional step on their path to finally accomplish the Cleansing of the Scale.
