Guilds of Wretinridge

Anvil & Hammer - a trade union representing all who work with metals and mined ores, from the smelters, tin smiths, and armorers to the blacksmiths and farriers. The armorers and blacksmiths have more influence within the guild than the smelters and farriers, but not by much. The skills of all members are needed throughout Wretinridge, from arming the Citysguard to supporting those who utilize horses and beasts of burden. Because of their far-reaching influence and services, they have two separate headquarters. One is in Coal Ridge (smelters and farriers), with the other in the Cobblestown precinct.

Artisans Society - sometimes called the Esteemed Fellowship of Artisans, the Society represents many of the makers within the city such as milliners, haberdashers, weavers, leatherworkers, potters, and basketweavers. The members produce much of what is sold in the city, both practical and fanciful. As many members also belong to more trade-specific guilds and organizations, the Artisans Society is often seen as a networking group that promotes harmony amongst potential rivals and organizes events to benefit all such craftsfolk. The guild is located in Cobbelstown.

Benevolent Order of Barristers, Notaries, & Scribes - It should be no surprise this Order keeps their guild hall in Scrivner's Square, They oversee litigators of Wretinridge and the closely associated professions of notary and scribe, and the keeping of written contracts that affect those throughout the city. This guild is commonly referred to as the Barrister's Guild, though this does cause occassional affronts to its non-barrister members. There has been word on the streets lately that the Notaries and Scribes might break off and form a guild of their own to better ensure their specific interests are represented.

Cobbler's Guild- This guild of cordwainers and cobblers is based in Cobblestown. Though shoemaking and repairing is a common occupation in Wretinridge, this guild is one of the least influential. Most shoe makers do not bother to join the guild.

The Coopers Guild- Many are surprised thqat the coopers of Wretinridge are not part of the Society of Wrights, Joiners, and Carpenters but they do, in fact, maintain their own separate guild. Despite this, the two organizations frequently cooperate. Their supplies of lumber and tools often come from the same sources, and the two make use of their combined influence when making purchasing arrangements together. They also have close relationships with the Fellowship of Brewers and Distillers. They are headquartered in Middentown.

The Covenant of Ashes- "Purveyors of Witchrock", a guild specializing in the procurement and trade of Witchrock, whose work spans the gamut from transparent to secretive. They often subcontract maverick cartographers and adventurers and typically believe the end justifies the means regarding their research and interests, sometimes skirting the edge of what is legally permissable. The Covenant of Ashes insists upon vows of secrecy from its members and affiliates. Their administrative center is located in Windhall, with a subsidiary guild hall adjacent to the Silver Scales central reserve in Highgarden.

The Culinary Vicinage- Within the Culinary Vicinage, one can find chefs, baker, and skilled artisans of all things edible and delectable. The top members of this association are often employed in residences and restaurants throughout Highgarden, which is where their meeting hall is located.

Cutters League- Members of the Cutters League turn raw gems and precious stones into manageable, settable, and sellable pieces. They have close ties with the various merchant houses of the city, as well as the Artisans Guild, the Jewelers Guild, and the smiths of Anvil and Hammer. Their guild hall is located in Middentown.

The Ebonclad- A well-established thieves' guild that is the primary architect of much of the organized crime within Wretinridge. These ruthless profiteers are known to engage in activities such as slave trafficking, smuggling, money laundering, prostitution, murder-for-hire, extortion, illicit gambling, and other nefarious activities. Rumor has it they cooperate with other organizations and are connected with certain public figures. The infamous Balacazar family are said to be at the heart of this disreputable organization. Guild hall location: Unknown.

The Excavators Guild - Diggers, miners, and sappers are among the tradesfolk who compromise this guild. Dwarves are unsuprisingly heavily represented within this organization, with almost all union stewards having been dwarven given their longstanding cultural affinities and propensity for detailed record-keeping on matters like soil composition and mineral densities. They are located primarily in Coal Ridge.

The Fellowship of Brewers and Distillers- Supply the city with libations of all varieties. While many would assume they only create intoxicants, that is far from the whole of their endeavors. The Brewers and Distillers are also responsible for many popular non-alcoholic beverages found throughout Wretinridge, and even some medicinal draughts. Their guild hall is located in the outer margin of the Silkshore precinct.

Glassblower's Guild- Small and quiet guild based in Middentown.

The Grange - the common name given to the Agricultural Guild of Wretinridge as well as their guild hall located in Middentown. Jewelers Guild- The Jeweler's Guild stands as a beacon of craftsmanship and elegance, bringing together a diverse array of artisans dediccated to the creation of exquisite and intricate jewelry that adorns the wealthier citizens of Wretinridge. From talented silversmiths to specialized craftsfolk, these artisans shape precious and semi-precious metals with meticulous care. The guild is located in Middentown, across the avenue from the Cutters League.

The Lancers Guild - represents and regulates all otherwise unattached freeswords, sellswords, archers, and gladiatorial combatants. The primary chapter house is in the Coliseum ward and provides members with access to the smithing trades and training grounds. All unaligned professional combatants or men-at-arms who are planning to stay for more than a few weeks are expected to register with the guild upon arrival to the city. Failure to do so can result in a Citysguard escort to the guild house. Repeatedly ignoring this ordinance usually results in expulsion from the city by the guild itself. The Lancers have an arrangement with the city to serve as supplemental defensive forces should Wretinridge face a substantial attack or civil unrest.

The Longfingers- This budding thieves' guild operates independently from the Ebonclad, and faces an uphill climb against them. Mostly, they have tried to carve out their own niche apart from that syndicate, but they sometimes still come into conflict over territorial disputes. The Longfingers are a growing guild whose ambitions outweigh their abilities and influence, though they seek to rectify that. They are rumored to be headquartered somewhere within the stackhouses of The Warrens (also known as 'Old Town'.)

The Order of Masons- Brickmakers, bricklayers, stone cutters, stone setters, tillers, and roofers comprise the Order of Masons, who can claim to have touched nearly all structures in Wretinridge. They are notorious for their corruption, and their guild hall is located in Cobblestown.

Privateers Compact- Wretinridge supplements their Naval Airships with hired vessels from the Privateers Compact, which is made up of non-enlisted ship captains willing to put their livelihoods at risk for their city. The Compact is a loosely run organization with individual members having near equal say in its endeavors. When acting on the city's request, the Privateers fly a modified version of the city's colors above their own standard.

The Silver Scales - a banking institution whose central reserve in Highgarden (with branches in all precincts and wards except for the Warrens and the Undercity and Sewers) maintains enormous vaults holding the assets of countless nobles, merchants, and commoners alike. Rumors circulate that many of the top families in the city and the government itself owes scandalous amounts of money to this bank. The Silver Scales also support and facilitate trade byt measuring and certifying goods for a small fee, whereby a Silver Scales inspector will assess a merchant's trade goods and assign them a value in "Silver Pieces." This valuation is widely recognized and represents the organization's guarantee of the product's quality.

Society of Wrights, Carpenterts, and Joiners- The society of Wrights, Carpenters, and Joiners is dedicated to the art of crafting and shaping wood into functional creations. They transform raw lumber procured from the Timber Workers Union into a myriad of practical items. The guild encompasses shipbuilding and airship construction and are centered in Gloomport.
