The Red Sun Legion
The expeditionary military force sent on behalf of the Empire of Brelia to defend against the invasion of the nation of Eskar. The Red Sun Legion is a small group of elite soldiers tasked with defending the northern front of the invasion from the Dominion of Gascil. Facing overwhelming odds from the north and south, the Red Sun Legion allied themselves with The Eclipsian Army to stabilize the region. While this alliance has remained intact for the time being, that is not to be said for what may lie in the future...
Structure
The Red Sun Legion is led by Commander Andrion Drex, veteran of the Brelian Army. Commander Drex is tasked with leading the Gascilian front of the Eskarian Cataclysm, distributing troops and maintaining supply lines. Drex is also responsible for reporting events of the conflict to the Conservator of Brelia and the Empirical Counsel of Brelia. The legion is broken up into two army groups. Red Sun Legion Army Group West and Red Sun Legion Army Group East. Each army group is led by a Battlemaster that coordinates local war efforts and reports to Drex directly. Professionally trained captains are sent to an officer training academy in Brivaldi and assigned to smaller teams of soldiers within the legion.
Culture
Members of the Red Sun Legion receive extensive training before being deployed on the battlefield and are highly disciplined in demeanor. Hierarchy and order are highly valued and coveted amond the ranks of the Legion, with respect for superior officers taking precedent among all else. Higher ranked Legionnaires are often segregated from lower ranked members to maintain discipline. Fraternization of higher level members and lower level members is also discouraged for the same reasons. Education is a core component of Red Sun Legion members, with every member being educated in the Philosophy of Lux Mundi and its principles.
Red Sun Legion members often read and write in their free time, creating manuscripts describing their experiences on the battlefield or philosophizing about the Brelian Empire and its ultimate place on Kyyir's world stage. Members are encouraged to take up hobbies that contribute to the cohesion of the legion or are mentally stimulating as to aid in maintaining a healthy state of mind. Many members choose to train in martial arts, often worshipping Phane and learning under their teachings of war and conflict. Common forms of recreation include cooking, woodworking, writing, and singing.
Public Agenda
Officially, the Red Sun Legion wishes to repel the joint invasion force of Eskar and re-build the nation of Eskar under the guidance of the Empire of Brelia. Eskar was a commonwealth of the Empire of Brelia during the destruction of Ithanalca and wished to send the Red Sun Legion to rebuild what remains. The invasions from The Dominion of Gascil and The Steppes of Apros along wth the insurgent groups of Eskar have proven to the Conservator of Brelia that the nation must face intervention or face total collapse and the consolidation of power from its invaders. Following the resolution of the invasion, the Red Sun Legion wishes to offer humanitarian aid to Eskarians and provide assistance in rebuilding the country.
History
The Red Sun Legion was formed following the destruction of Ithanalca and the start of the Eskarian Cataclysm. The Empire of Brelia, shocked at the recent development began to assemble an expeditionary force to respond to the invasion of its constituent nation. The Conservator of Brelia appointed Commander Andrion Drex of the Hands of the Conservator in Brivaldi to lead this force, dubbed the Red Sun Legion. The initial fighting force was drafted from all corners of Brelia. During this time the Conervator issued the Red Sun Decree, establishing the creation of the Red Sun Legion as a united Brelian force to stabilize the region of Eskar and push back the Dominion of Gascil and The Steppes of Apros. The name of the legion is reminiscent of the red sun that shines in the skies of Kyyir. The sun within Brelia is revered and seen as the ultimate symbol of law and order, dictating the existence of all life itself with its embrace.
