Zerion Mountains
The Zerion mountains used to be connected in one huge range, now they are split across multiple different sky continents. Originally the Zerion mountains were known as the most colossal mountain range to ever exist on Laeriss, now they are split into multiple parts all across the different sky continents of Laeriss. The shape of the Zerion mountains has been compared to a crescent moon and some followers of Ludasa and Mourl say that they feel closer to their gods when they on the Zerion mountains.
Different parts of the range
The Zerion mountains are split into multiple pieces across multiple continents, here's basically what the different sections are called.North Zerion mountains
The north mountains are located on the continent of Derolis, they are the shortest and least steep of the mountains and are home to: The Oerah Volcanoes, the Mirdàhge Mine, the city of Ironheart, and the city of Nai' De among other things.West Zerion mountains
The west Zerion mountains are the tallest and most extreme of the range, they are located on the continent of Xalia and contain the city of Frostlance, Falem Mountain, and the ruined Falema college.South Zerion Mountains
The south Zerion Mountains are located on the continent of Noragdus, they are a bit less extreme and tall than the west Zerion mountains but still are quite high, they are home to The Ancient Monastery and create a half crescent containing Camp Ferius.The Zerion cliffs
The Zerion cliffs are a group of steep cliffs above The Carili Sea on the continent of Quarillis, they are mostly flat on top and are the shortest of the locations in the main Zerion range.Some Zerion adjacent locations
A few locations which are not considered a main part of the Zerion range but are still close by are the Perinè Plateaus , Panda mountain, and the Zierak hills.Geography
The Zerion mountains are quite varied since they are a giant mega range which curls all the way around the entire world of Laeriss. The northern Zerion mountains of Derolis are less tall than the rest of the main mountains and have a less steep slope, as well as containing the Oerah Volcanoes, but they do get taller as you head farther west. The western Zerion mountains of Xalia are the steepest and tallest, constantly covered in snow and ice year round at the highest points. The south Zerion mountains of Noragdus are slightly less extreme than the west ones but still taller and harder to climb than the northern mountains. The Zerion cliffs of Quarillis are the least tall of the main mountain formations and are quite flat compared to the rest, they border on The Carili Sea. The mountains run through a variety of all sorts of different lands with different environments, rivers and lakes cross near their bases and sometimes they produce the rivers. Lastly the views from the Zerion mountains can be incredible depending on where you are but since they are so big it depends on the specific location.
Fauna & Flora
The ecosystems of the Zerion mountains also vary quite a lot since they are so sweeping. On the north Zerion mountains there is a boreal forest which covers the mountains and the Oerah Volcanoes, they are covered in tall trees like pines and conifers. The west Zerion mountains are very cold and do not have a ton of life but do have some bushes, tall pine and conifer trees, bears, foxes and the like. The south Zerion mountains are quite hot and humid being located on the continent of Derolis, the south mountains are quite green and varied with lots of different plants and animals dwelling in the more suitable and humid area. The south Zerion cliffs of Quarillis, which border on the The Carili Sea, have quite a bit of life on them in the form of abundant grasses and such, trees, bushes, and other plants live on the quite windy cliffs. Chickens and turkeys are also native to the Zerion cliffs and feed off the grass which grows in the rocky terrain.
Natural Resources
The Zerion mountains are rich in metals and ore, the northern and western Zerion mountains especially have quite a lot of precious metals, gems and other things. The Oerah Volcanoes are known for the great abundance of metals which are mined in the Mirdàhge Mine by the Dwarves. Often these metals will be exported to the city of Ironheart where they are processed into all sorts of goods like weapons and armor. The north and south mountains, and sometimes the cliffs of the Zerion range possess lumber, lumber from the mountains is commonly used and exported all across Laeriss. The mountains also have many animals who possess valuable pelts which can be used to make quite a good bit of gold. Beavers, rabbits, otters, bears, deer, boar, and many many more animals live across the huge area of land inhabited by the Zerion mountains. The Zerion cliffs of Quarillis are home to creatures like turkeys and chickens which are commonly farmed and are some of the most profitable animals.
