Warren Van Haals
Emperor Sahrna Abdul (a.k.a. The Impudent)
Emperor Warren Van Haals succeeded his father amidst a terrible famine that enraptured the territory under Saint's Maar and Caripreet. Originally named Sahrna Abdul, he would change his name for the profuse hatred he had for his father's career. Unlike Emperor Sahra Abdul IV, Van Haals believed the tenets of Shellbay exceptionalism and wanted their power to spread far and wide. He would forcefully instate paladins of the Bailum Consilium on both his council and court, while forcing Eldurgrund to give up their crop at threat of invasion. The riches of Eldurgrund had the potential to drive Saint's Maar to an age of good health, feeding everyone and returning the economy to normalcy (at the cost of Eldurgrund's well-being). Van Haals, however, had different plans for the wealth.
The food was largely given to the Saltkrigere, who were instated in the city as the official military of the empire once more. While Emperor Sahra Abdul IV had all but removed the term "Saltkrigere" from the empire, the change would be inconsequential thanks to Van Haals. The results of this decision were catastrophic, leaving the Saint's Maar military hungry, Eldurgrund hostile, and Shellbay defensive against all other parties. All of the conflict would pass under the emperor's nose, as he sat in his castle gorging himself on the riches of Shellbay and Eldurgrund alike. The Saltkrigere, content with what had occurred, defended the emperor with their lives, serving once again as the royal guard. Several revolts gave way to the disposal of the Saint's Maar military, unless they submitted to the Consilium and served the Saltkrigere as indentured servants.
During the blazing conflict, the non-Consilium members of the court began forming plans to dispose of the Saltkrigere and return the realm to peace, but the plans would take generations to see the light of day.
