Bakan Council

Bakaneer is a small island to the south west of Paradigm. It is wedged between the two continents and is home to a large amount of pirates and raiders - mainly aiming to raid books. The forests on the island hold the largest libraries in all of Lanmet. They are highly isolationist and believe everyone else to be spirits, because of this belief they will not kill outsiders.

Council Members

the leadership of Bakaneer, each is selected to represent similar people. The council members have a representitive from the elders, youth and one to represent each of the The five wears - a warrior, a traveller, a worker, a festival organiser and a hunter.

Structure

Bakaneer is separated into villages and each has an elder for everyday ruling which has a council of experts that help decision making. When an issue that happens that involves many or all villages a meeting is called by the one that discovers the issue. The elder that calls the meeting must feed and shelter the other traveling elders and host the event in their village meaning calling a meeting is a burden that forces it to be infrequent and important. At this meeting votes are called and the matter is decided.

Military

The sail-less ships of Bakaneer are slower than their sailed counterparts. They rely on small islands that only a ship like theirs could hide on. From here they strike at night at unexpecting ships. The people of Bakaneer are known to throw precisely with their bamboo spears even at night.

Agriculture & Industry

Food is gathered either through hunting the animals of the area, some river fishing and under canopy farming of fruit and vegetables.

Trade & Transport

Bakaneer has little outside trade, they only trade with a small group of Sugaz called the Banded Snakes. Theft is the main interaction they choose to have with the outside world. Having limited natural resources the citizens rely on raiding trade routes and countries using their bamboo boats. These raiders do not kill anyone who doesn’t resist so merchants often are softer on these pirates than others. Bakaneer villages also lay in trap filled dense bamboo forests meaning hunting them down is difficult.
