Criciro's Bookbinders Guild (Krih-SEE-rohs)
The thirteenth Merchant Clan in Roue D'or is oft forgotten by the citizens of the city. Rarely serving those outside of the educated elite, the bookbinders have such minimal presence in the mind of Roue D'ori people that the bookbinders have no representative among the Merchant Kings that rule the city.
The Work of a Fixer
Bookbinders rarely find work in Roue D'or outside of The Triskelion's students and faculty. Most bookbinders, or fixers as they are affectionately referred to by customers, will receive most of their income from repeat customers looking for loose notes to be bound or for repairs on existing books. More frequent and experienced clients will sometimes enter contracts with their favorite bookbinders to receive regular repairs paid in advance or on tabs. A fixer will perform work on any books or scrolls brought to them; the more ancient the more expensive the repair costs. A master bookbinder is capable of restoring text on faded documents, re-stitching and sewing signatures back into place, and aligning scrolls into new casings. Simple work will fall unto apprentice and journeyman bookbinders who bind blank journals and glue leathers onto boards for covers. For a bookbinder apprentice to be accepted into the guild they are required to produce a masterpiece work of successfully binding a grimoire suitable for a Tower Mage's spellbook."Where did you find these? These records are so old, I can hardly keep them in the binding." "Just send them to fixers, we can go over them tomorrow. Now c'mon, were going to be late for the party."
